Timana Tahu out, Joel Monaghan in for State of Origin II

again, you have absolutely no idea what was apparently said so why assume that it trivial?

That's why I hope we are enlightened a bit more about what was actually said.

I think it would do Tahu more favours than Johns for it to come out.

At the moment, Tahu has had that statement of a Blues Jersey being more important to an Australian one (albeit Rugby Union, mitigating as it is) attributed to him from game one.

That is a statement of passion.

To walk out of game 2 on a verbal stoush - well, unless we know what was said and why he was offended, I can see that the speculation will continue negatively towards Tahu and his passion and commitment to Origin.

For argument's sake, let's assume Timana has some personal issues in his life that are stressing him out. It's happened before, and will happen again, where something seemingly 'small' and 'innocent' is enough to tip you over the edge.

To use an example, I had a personal issue a year ago regarding my mother going to hospital. I was very upset and tense. Work asked me to come in for two hours on my day off and I flew off the handle. It was a result of other tension.

I'm not trying to defend T necessarily, but you never know what was behind it.

Not knowing what was said and we are all entitled to an opinion sooo.......

Perhaps Johns made light of his drug affected playing days or even joked that he made up stuff about his mental health to avoid further scrutiny and it offended T who may have a family member dealing with those issues for real.....

Or maybe he made a comment that belittled T's race or religion and T felt that he couldn't work in that environment...

'if you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything'
Well said mate

It sucks, but you have to respect T if he is willing to give up playing SOO - something he loves. He must be pretty passionate about whatever Joey said.

There has to be more to this than just a comment to upset tahu enough for him to walk out of blues camp. A few weeks ago tahu sat next to da in a press conference where da said tahu was rubbish earlier in the year with no known fallout. Maybe a comment started something but that can't be all it is.

Glad it happened now and not during the Game. The Naughty Queenslanders might have said something to poor Tahu and he would have walked off the filed.

Do you guys honestly think someone saying Timana has been average this year would upset him that much? You think he doesn't know and want to improve his game and is working really hard to do so?

I highly doubt if someone said, "T, you've been ordinary this year so far!" that it would upset him to that degree.

Maybe Johns made a comment about Folau being a traitorous bastard who should never be allowed to play SOO again? Tahu defected, so maybe he took it personally and walked?

It's the only thing that I can think of that might have been said in a group situation that would have led Tahu to be offended. It would no doubt have been a topic of discussion during the week...

Joey remarks forced Tahu walk out on NSW
11:13 AEST Sat Jun 12 2010
NSW winger Timana Tahu is out of next Wednesday's State of Origin clash due to personal reasons.

NSW Winger Timana Tahu sensationally walked out of the Blues State of Origin camp after taking offence to remarks made by assistant coach Andrew Johns.

A devastated Johns would not reveal what he said to former Newcastle teammate Tahu, but told reporters at the team's camp in Kingscliff in Northern NSW, that he was "shattered".

Stunned Blues officials were forced to call up Canberra Raiders winger Joel Monaghan, as a emergency replacement just four days out from Origin two at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

"Earlier in the week I made some comments which Timana Tahu deemed inappropriate and offensive," Johns told reporters on Saturday.

"My comments weren't directed towards Timana, some of the comments were about myself and 'T' (Tahu) deemed them to be offensive and inappropriate.

"I am really upset and shattered that I have offended T, we go way back. I've known him since he's been a kid.

"Unfortunately we had a day off yesterday and I didn't get a chance to see 'T' before he left and tried to call him.

"It is a private matter between myself and him, and we'll talk in the next couple of days."

NSW team manager Craig Young said that Tahu spoke with Blues coach Craig Bellamy at lunchtime on Friday, when many of the players, who had a day off, were playing golf.

Tahu told Bellamy he was leaving the camp, throwing into further disarray the Blues' preparations as they attempt to square the series on Wednesday and avoid a fifth successive defeat.

"He approached the coach yesterday afternoon and said he wanted to leave the camp for personal reasons," Young said.

"He just jumped in a cab and went to the airport."

Young apologised to media for keeping them in the dark about the situation on Friday night, but said it was difficult to get hold of selectors to find a replacement for Tahu.

He also said Monaghan needed a medical clearance for a thumb injury, which he only received on Saturday morning.

"We have been trying to contact Timana, we have spoken to (Parramatta CEO) Paul Osborne and left messages for his manager.

"We just have to talk to him and we can't do that at the moment.

"It's his decision and we have to respect that.

"In relation to Joey, he is shattered. He is obviously very passionate about NSW.

"He'll get back on the bike at training today and we have to get on with it.

"It's a matter of NSW preparing well, putting their best foot forward and winning the game

Didnt Tahu say he finally knew how to pass and kick a football when he crossed over to Union

Maybe Joey asked him for some professional advice?

Well explain to me how you know what the CRL 'common line is when they get off the phone to you' is all about.
What is the CRL common line..please enlighten me?
and explain how you know what is discussed between me and the CRL unless it is leaked to you with the express purpose of ridiculing my attempts to promote Rugby League in this area..
I think this is a pretty serious accusation you have levelled against me..and if I can't get an answer from you, I will go further..make no mistake about that.
