In context no issue. In those shows like Neighbours go for it part of life and those should mirror life

Well your daughter asked for context; "what does girls kissing have to do with footy?" - Sounds a perfect opportunity to provide context.

I'm not sure why a SS kiss in Neighbours is ok but during the ad break is not.

The NRL is so gay inclusive, just look at all those gay male players coming out of the closet.
Unless of course, there are no gay players in this current crop.

Methinks the NRL as a whole is not as inclusive as it makes itself out to be.
Careful the Forum Gestapo will silence you.

No one has "come out" as heterosexual. Is there a requirement for players to declare their sexuality? Even if they did it wouldn't matter. Gay? Straight? That's in Queensland!

Not hiding it but shouldn’t focus on that sort of stuff. It should be seen as normal so shouldn’t matter though
But it has never been seen as normal, that is the point! By including it in tv shows and pop culture like ads for national sporting organisation that is how it becomes normalised. There are many people who still think that 2 girls kissing is wrong, these types of things is how we move to it being normalised. The NRL should celebrate the success of a political movement that it threw its weight behind don't you think?

We currently have the women T20 world Cup ( As you would know being a cricket fan) there are numerous players in same sex relationships.
Sam Kerr from soccer is the same
No doubt several AFLW players are too

Yet those sports let the players not their personal lives sell the sport. The product alone is good enough

No one forced those 2 to have that moment. It wasn't a marketing ploy, like Gal and ET's tearful embrace after 2016 GF. A special moment was captured and if ya got it, use it.

I don’t want her treating anyone different. Even treating them differently positively. So best to go through it when in HS

Well you watch those shows you expect to get questions. Not when all she watches is that Disney + garbage

Oh yeah, HS is a breeding ground of inclusiveness and understanding lol kids are so kind at that age.

The NRL ad is playing on Disney+? I think Disney has gay characters now.. didn't they make the candle gay in Beauty & The Beast?

Not treating people differently is not necessarily a good thing! What about extra help for a friend with a disability? or going out of her way to play with the new kid who is having trouble making friends?

Fairness is not everyone being treated the same way!

That is common decency though. I would expect her to stand for elderly regardless of gender, Race, Reglious belief or sexual preference.

I agree, The “cmon Aussie, cmon, cmon” ad for the women’s cricket is great, used an iconic song, and didn’t divide supporters for no reason.

The NRL looks like it wanted to cause a stir, as others have pointed out, instead of just latrell, they could of shown parts of both tribal acts from the all stars match, shown the women’s WNRL grand final and origin winners holding up the trophy.

sport has always been a way to escape and relax for a few hours, not to get into an argument about things that they are probably already arguing about with others during the week.

the main issue with the ad that I have, is the unfortunately awful singing by some random girl.

You don't have to go into the .. umm, birds & birds/bees & bees(?) of same-sex partnerships. f**ked if I know, not my kid. Work it out, kids ask plenty curly questions trying to make sense of the world around them. Like it or not the world has same-sex couples. It was 2 people who love each other despite trying to flog each other in an SOO match. No need to drill down into the homosexuality aspect.

Where is the appropriate place? Were you planning on randomly addressing same-sex partnerships over a happy meal on Saturday? Its only awkward to you, your 9 year old probably knows more lesbians than you do.

Remember the question wasn't "why are 2 girls kissing" it was what it had to do with footy. So the girls kissing wasn't the issue, just its relevance to footy.

Sure, you could probably just fob them off with “they’re friends”, or “they love each other” etc, and not explain homosexuality, but the point is it could provoke many kids to ask more questions that they’re too young to understand.

The appropriate place or more correctly time, is when the kids is old enough to understand.

It’s not awkward to me at all and I don’t have a 9 year old. I just think that the questions it may raise are inappropriate for a young child to be pondering. Anyway it’s up to a parent how they raise their children.

Ok, I probably forgot the context, but it makes it more of a quandary tbh.
