**EDIT - someone got their wires crossed and this is a proposal not a thing.** thank god!
Just read online (not officially just on social media) that we have done a deal/agreement to play the rabbitohs EVERY indigenous round moving forward.

crazy!

our bogey team, arguably the proudest club indigenous club, and we will cop them every time.
I'd rather play them in Darwin each year and make fat latrell run

If tomorrow night gets a big crowd it wouldn't surprise me tbh the NRL look to make it a marquee game each year.

One of the reasons the Eels v Tigers is a Easter Monday fixture is based on the 1st time it happened in 2014 it got 50k so the NRL after that locked it in as it annual fixture even though crowds have dropped.

It still generates 27-28k every year which is a good result.

apparently it was bot Tigers and Parra who applied for the game to be played on Easter monday and not the NRL setting it up

Correct both clubs use on of their 3 (I think that’s the number) of requests each year for Easter Monday. Assume we also use another for Labor Day Bulldogs game as that’s become a regular too I think

For mine BA is safe for 2023 regardless of any results. We played in the GF last year, he has earned the right to coach out this year at a minimum. No club has sacked a grand final coach in the following season, the concept is preposterous and even you blokes suggesting it know it’s ridiculous.

if we finish bottom 4 this year then I would tell BA that 2024 is his final year irrespective of results, and if by round 8 we are not in the top 8 he is gone immediately. We begin interviews for 2025 this off season with a view to have someone appointed by round 10-12 so they can be part of recruitment and retention for 2025.
We sacked Daniel Anderson in 2010.

To be fair, they extended a coach who made the semis 2019, 2020, 2021 and the GF in 2022. If you step away from your bubble, that’s an acceptable result by any metric. You can see that right ?
He was just lucky in all those years. 2018 and the first half of 2023 show his real coaching ability. I hope he gets sacked before he can win any more games.

So objectively, should the club continue to persist with a coach that will make semis? If that was the case, Terry Fearnley would have still been coaching in the 80’s and the club would never have hired Jack Gibson.
Did they hire Gibson to fill the coaching vacancy or did they create the vacancy so they could hire Gibson?

The risk with going overly ruthless is that if it doesn't breed success reasonably quickly and relatively regularly then you just become a pack of merkins no one wants to deal with, it's a fine line I reckon

Professionalism requires accountability, and responsibility, and you don't want a culture that's anathema to merkins accepting and owning either due to fear of reprisal.

Doesn't seen to affect the Roosters too badly, though.

Yeah someone pointed that out. By reports at the time he lost the dressing room. One thing is clear, is BA has not done that - the players love him
Nah, DA was just seen by Spagnolo and Co as a Fitzgerald appointment/ally and so they wanted him out so they could appoint their own guy. Nothing to do with losing the dressing room. They tried to infer he had upset the likes of Mateo but Feleti came out and hosed that story down pretty quick...

Didn’t they ask Hindy and Cayless and they said they wanted to keep Ando, it was the Peirtek major sponsor Duncan that forced Big face onto us.

Yeah something like that. From memory, the only stooge they were able to get from the playing group to badmouth Ando was Tahu and he was frazzled by that point....

19th man? Is that something to celebrate now?
You don't get 19th man FWD unless you're considered close to NRL selection. So it means that he's ticking all the boxes. Are you not following his progress ? He's been one of the (only?) form young forwards so far this year.
