If the Storm have to release players, It should be the ones that were proven to have taken extra payments not the players that rec'd nothing. Why should those players be penalised yet again for the actions of the dirty cheating ones!

That's ridiculous.

1: The cheating did not only influence the eight named - it inflated the entire cap for the entire roster. Having Smith, for example, get $150k more in "fringe" benefits, allowed us to sign someone like Lowrie.

2: We don't need to be penalised any further into the future for indiscretions of the past. That would be double jeopardy, and I think the punishment is certainly sufficient enough. The club should be allowed to choose who to retain who to let go - just like any other club in the competition operating within the cap. For example, we should be allowed to have the choice to keep Smith at the expense for two other players, if the club so desires. It's how the players' market works, and it's call Capitalism.

We can't compete on the open market. We can't compete with England and France because their economies are too strong. There is no real reason to think we can compete with the ARU either.

Unfortunately the NRL is just too similar to rugby and we have to accept being a second class citizen. The AFL thrives because it is immune (owing to uniqueness). Sadly this is just the way it is.

Look on the bright sight. In 40 years there will be 20 million soccer fans in Australia. League and Union are both destined to be minority sports.
John O'Neil - is that you??
You must make up the short fall for every other team in the comp then.
ouch, you're clever :sarcasm:
