well you should
Your desperation is showing here. The numbers were low in comparison as he has outlined. No speculation there.
Flame away as to why.
But viewers did not tune in as they had in the past.
Maybe it is due in part to the horrible off season of negative headlines and perceived lack of LEADERSHIP in the NRL to address problems with its players and become a more palatable sport for the general public to watch. A sport without the stench of blokes who can't keep themselves out of the shit once they've had a drink?
Maybe people don't care much for these 'exhibition' or 'Mickey Mouse' games too.
Maybe it's a combo of both.
But whatever the reason, the numbers weren't flash.
"I don't give the Big Bash credence" jfcI don't give much credence to what the game was up against. The Big Bash has it's own ratings and attendance issues.
Definitely not.
As I wrote, the Big Bash has its own ratings and attendance issues.
And no players misbehaving. Same problem, different reasons or just the norm in Aussie sport at the moment?

Viewers likely didn't "tune in like they have in the past" because 9 did very little promotion, and the opposition this year was an NZ side, which it can be argued draws viewers away like it would for a Warriors game.
Not quite.
Previously it was supposed to be the best indigenous players v the best of the rest of the NRL.
This time it was a fairly good indigenous squad v the NZ Warriors plus a couple of ring ins.
Weidler has presented the facts he wants, and ignored the ones that don't suit his narrative.Nor do we give much credence to what you have to say TimTam.
If Weedler is poking holes in your theories then you need to reassess your stance big boy.
especially seeing it was a Melbourne team v a Sydney team which are the two biggest marketsWeidler has presented the facts he wants, and ignored the ones that don't suit his narrative.
Whether you like it or not, going against a Big Bash semi final was always going to result in less viewers. All Stars had no FTA sport opposition in 2017, hence a larger figure.
This is an issue, especially for the causal and younger fans.I would have watched it but when there was no sign of any action by 8:00 pm, I switched off.
Could be argued that AFLX on Friday night was the AFL's own version of a meaningless (competitively anyway) pre-season event, like NRL All Stars.Simple fact is if 2 popular sports are broadcast at the same time then they will take viewers away from each .
Moreso one that is a semi final compared to a pre season all star game . .
Look how the aflx freak show rated . It was up against nothing .
If there was a cricket semi on it would have probabaly lost half its viewers.
