What a stupid argument, no one in Brisbane actually likes the Broncos, they just support them because they have no other team? So when you add this much beloved new team in Brisbane, the Broncos will have no fans, yes? So, what's the point of a second Brisbane team?
I actually didn't say that no one likes them in Brisbane, of course they do. What I said is that they are not a beloved team here, they are not wholeheartedly embraced by rugby league fans. There are a few reasons for this. Animosity from the beginning for essentially ruining the BRL, some local supporters already having a NSWRL team and not jumping ship to the new Brisbane team and Super League.
The Broncos will always have a core fan base of around 25k, attract on average 5k in away support and on average 5k in bandwaggoners in really good seasons. But as you would have noticed their averages have never really grown past this point ever.
A new Brisbane NRL team will not have the BRL or Super League issues to deal with and if done right, even fans of interstate clubs will jump on board as their second team just because they are not the Broncos. So yes a successful second club will pass the Broncs membership and averages easily, there is a huge RL following in Brisbane not engaged by the Broncs as the Maroons point out each year. Hell even the Crushers averaged 21k in their first season and they were bog ordinary. Then the SL war kicked in and destroyed their averages (as it did with the Broncs too).
I'm sure you know all of this though - your comment seems to suggest that you are an expert on Rugby League in Brisbane.
