Most have already put forward cases why Barrett or Payten would be ridiculously bad appointments.

Who are the other options?

Walters, Arthur and Neil. No doubt others would apply. This is a coveted position for a motivated coach with a strategy to unleash the potential of the Campbelltown Macarthur district added to the quality of juniors emerging from Balmain and Keebra Park.

Why are people of the opinion that we need someone who has never been a first grade coach to take over Potter at this very delicate time at the club?

we need someone with experience working at a struggling club with f**k all money, and Potter fits that role perfectly.

Need I remind you of the only time we had a first time coach, Terry Lamb.

it is plain Ludicrous & excessively risky to take on a rookie coach.

It's obviously too early to call whether it will be a resounding success, but we have very experienced people in the two key roles at this club in Potter and Mayer given their resumes and the current state of events at the club.

As you've already said, Potter's experience with Bradford should speak volumes, he managed to motivate players to win games while the club was going tits up and would have made the finals if the SL didn't dock them points for going broke, all while he wasn't being paid.

Mayer's experience in working with the shitfight that is Manly's boardroom and still delivering results on field will come in handy for working with our quagmire of a board. Adding to that he's articulate, calm and reasonably transparent to the fans.

I'm confident if Potter can get the squad to turn it around next year, it will be the start of something big.

Hiring an assistant with no experience to manage this mess would be an unmitigated disaster.

Remember the last Storm assistant coach to come with plenty of wraps? Yeah, no thanks.

I don't necessarily agree with you regarding all assistant coaches struggling when they become head coaches but I don't believe that we should be having a grass is greener approach to the coaching staff at the moment.

Potter needs time. He has probably made mistakes but I bet Bellamy would at our club as well.

Every coach makes mistakes.

The focus shouldn't be on the mistakes, but the lesson learned from the mistakes.

Sheens never learned from his mistakes. He actually never saw that he made any mistakes.

Potter is trying a few things, knowing the season is over. Giving a few young guys a few games each to prove themselves.

I like the way he has gone about his business this year, and in my view, he's performed above and beyond what I expected.

Any Tigers fan who expected big results this year is an idiot.

2013 was all about starting to rebuild the club, get in a new competitive, unified structure in place and Potter has achieved a lot towards that in less than 12 months.

I don't know of many other coaches who have achieved so much in a year. He's made the tough decisions that had to be made for the betterment of the club financially and on the field.

I must be an idiot then. I expected us to make the 8 at the beginning of Potters stint.
I expected Benji to peak and do better than 2012.
