The drums are getting louder... Cameron C will be coaching 16 chocolate soldiers in 2019, and Ivan will be coaching Nathan. Gives you a fuzzy feeling....two jaws reunited

That will now be the whole set.
It’s like collecting footy cards isn’t it.

for what it's worth ...

Bennett and Tigers deny talks as the Panthers circle Cleary

By Christian Nicolussi
3 October 2018 — 8:09pm

Brisbane supercoach Wayne Bennett has reaffirmed his commitment to the Broncos next year as he and Wests Tigers denied the seven-time premiership winner had been approached to replace Ivan Cleary.
It took just three days for the confetti to settle after the NRL grand final before the off-season coaching merry-go-round cranked up with The Australian reporting that Bennett had been shopped to the Tigers for 2020.

While Bennett is happy to entertain any offers from 2020 onwards, Tigers fans will be wanting to know what happens in the short term, especially with Penrith confident they can get Cleary for the start of pre-season training next month.

Bennett first heard about being linked to the Tigers after a morning chat with his sister early on Wednesday. Bennett made a point there was no way he would walk out on Red Hill early.
Cleary still has two years to run on his deal at the Tigers, but he and Penrith are keen to be reunited for next season.
Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe, meanwhile, has repeatedly stated Cleary will honour the final two years of his deal and he maintained that stance last night.
Bennett, who has already been informed that next year will be his last at the Broncos, told the Herald on Wednesday: "I’ve said it numerous times and I’ll repeat it – I intend to continue coaching after 2019 if I can get a job somewhere. Nothing is off the list. We’ll see what happens. The first time I heard about the Wests Tigers [link] was this morning when my sister told me about it."
Regardless of the lack of love from the Broncos hierarchy, Bennett has no desire to pack his bags early. "I’ve never intimated that at any stage, and nothing has changed," Bennett said.

The fact the Broncos roster has a better chance of pushing for the 2019 title than the Tigers would also make it harder for Bennett to entertain the idea of leaving early.
Pascoe, whose club has also been linked to former South Sydney premiership-winning boss Michael Maguire, has become frustrated by the intense speculation.
"Especially when we’re not the ones driving the speculation," he said. "The first I heard about the Wayne speculation was Wednesday. Our position hasn’t changed and we have a coach who will honour his contract the next two years."
The Tigers would be aware they have little to gain by releasing Cleary now. A better option would surely be to wait 12 months when more than half-a-dozen rival coaches come off contract, including Bennett.

As well as the Tigers, Maguire has also been linked to Manly and Bennett’s Broncos. One thing is for sure: he wants to coach in Australia, having already passed on a couple of job offers in the Super League in the hope of returning to the NRL.
The Sea Eagles are also in the mix for assistant John Cartwright, but are not in the position to lock down anyone until they thrash out a proper settlement with Trent Barrett.
If the Sea Eagles or the Tigers did pursue Maguire, they would be forced to start their pre-season without him because the New Zealand coach leaves the country on Friday and won’t return until midway through November, after the three-Test series in England.
Muddying the waters even further is the fact that it is not uncommon for player managers to shop coaches to clubs without their knowledge, such as when the Orr brothers attempted to shop Bennett to the Titans midway through the year, even though he was not one of their clients.

The speculation around Cleary and the Panthers only intensifies with each day Cleary refuses to publicly declare his intentions. He refused to guarantee he would see out his Tigers deal when he fronted his final post-match press conference, and since that time his son, Nathan, has signed a new deal with Penrith until the end of 2024.
Should Cleary not join Penrith for 2019, the club is more than comfortable with Cameron Ciraldo, who took over from Anthony Griffin, the man who loomed as the only stumbling block in retaining their halfback.
Anthony Seibold, meanwhile, has a year to run on his deal with South Sydney and has started talks about extending his stay at Redfern, despite the reported interest from the Broncos.
Like Bennett, Seibold will honour his deal at Souths in 2019, regardless of whether he does sign elsewhere for the following season.

I think tigers should keep Cleary until they actually sign someone for long term gain even if that's 2021.

Even if we know he will be there in 2021 if Penrith miss the 8 the next 2 years just cos they are waiting for Cleary this would make their fan base and members angry that you sacrifice 2 years just for someone to coach their son. If Penrith are in a hole by 2021 and Tigers can at least make the 8 Ivan may rethink his options and Gus will have egg on his face by waiting 2 years for nothing.

I think tigers should play hard ball against Penrith. I know the money side of things could be good but I think seeing Penrith suffer on the field until cleary gets there would be good aswell.

As for Bennett where ever he goes next will probably be his last period of his career so he would put all his heart in it to try and go out on a high. He would be good for players off the field aswell. Someone like Brooks I reckon would go to another level.

Agree.....Bennett and Ivan have the same management ....my belief is that they ( in cahoots with Gus inc.) are trying to get the tigers to blink first. ..or rather have us rush up Kevie style and have Ivan sidestep to the line without a hand being laid on him or Gus ....gotta hold the nerve and make it painful

Better to cut the cord now than later on down the track when his motivation to be at the club shrinks even further.

It’s disappointing due to the fact we threw him a life line and he built a culture of believing in and working hard for each other, one that we really haven’t had before.

On the flip side, it’s mind boggling as to why you would go back to the employer who sacked you not that long ago under the guise of looking after his well being.

Dont let the door etc etc....
Can't recall being as disillusioned by someone of his much lauded standing....perhaps he was on an entirely different wavelength to the club and it's much battered supporters when he signed on and only saw us as nothing more than a way back in....but whatever the case .because of the wholly disrespectful mute duplicity this guy has displayed through all of this towards a club that showed him total respect ..well I'll never see or hear him the same way again...ive been a solid supporter of his from day one but now it's good luck and get lost as far as this mostly calm and reasonable old guy is concerned.

Hear Hear !

I’m absolutely stoked this selfish fraud who has displayed zero integrity or gratitude is returning to the kingdom of Gus as Gus’s bootlicker !

And dont he fooled by any " fully intended to see out my contract till 20....the penrith deal was done now to force our hand....never any intention of being here next year. ...a totally engineered betrayal of good faith...not just of the club but the tens of thousands of hardcore supporters and the believing players he looked in the eye and asked a commitment from when he brought them here.
On the positive side Bennett will take those who can to another level. ..the level where the big boys play.

He has let the players down as well , after his first little speech to them about the whole Penrith story the team were convinced he wasnt going to stay ... then days later he was saying he is 100% here to stay. Fmd they must think he is a total prick now.

I must say Weststigers and Super coach is something that has never been used together in the whole existence of the club.
If it happens im not expecting a premiership but would like to see us as a club turn a corner and start heading up the ladder and become a club that can challenge for a comp and atttact players .

Such self interest is touching.

I’m sorry the tigers officialdom put so much into him and he responded by rogering you good and proper,

I think most fans of other clubs thinks he needs his come uppance or a four bee.

This could be a real blessing in disguise.

You have good execs, they will bring home the bacon.

If Bennett wanted to coach Souths, I’d pay for seibs first year at the broncos and throw in..... mmmm....burns at least.
