When there is a massive media spotlight shinning directly in your eyes the best thing to do is head to the airport and go somewhere that would not know what the NRL is.

It worked for Mitchell Pearce

I think your spot on there coach.
Also,it’s a GRAND FINAL LUNCH.
So most of our team doesn’t know that word
And all present there were 2005 players.
But no Benji?:thinking::thinking:

What better way to celebrate 7 years of failing to reach the finals by rolling out the grand final winning team of 13 years ago. I’m sick of hearing about 2005 as if it just happened yesteday. Only our club would celebrate a 13 year old premiership year after year after year...

Imagine in 30 years time GF luncheon we are rolling out 2005 premiers with their walking sticks and wheelchairs....
Because theres no way while im living we will win again.

I was told by a Tiger fan yesterday that the 2005 reunion was an opportunity for club management to have some one on one discussions with the newly appointed assistant coach of the Warriors.

I love a conspiracy theory, but that one?

I told my mate that there's no way but then again, this mob have done and will continue to do some crazy things.

Cleary will be moved on before the end of the year (and probably fired by Gus midway through 2019), and we will have Madge signed on long term.

No way we can go into another 2 years knowing our coach is doing the runner. How can we sign or re-sign players?

Why?

I didn't like Lamb or Taylor even when they were our coach.
Well, I want to like the players & coach of the club I support, it's miserable when you hate them, as I did with Jason Failure. I didn't want Bennett and haven't been impressed with him in recent years. Having said that if he also brings some top players with him and gets the team firing then I'm sure I will get used to the idea of him being coach.

Very true.
It is miserable, but when you have the history there and know in your gut he is only there for the paycheck it cant be helped.

He followed Balmain but that doesn't mean he is the future of the club.

He is not the future, but he may be the platform for it.
Aren't all coaches there for a paycheck?

I don't blame Penrith for chasing Cleary - it would be remiss of them to not explore any possible option for success, they are a business (as are we) after all and headhunting happens all the time in the corporate world.
Pundits make fun of the whole "5-year plan" misnomer but the truth is that Phil Gould and the admin there have done a remarkable job of galvanising their junior pathways and broadening their reach into Central Western NSW. They've consistently played September football in the previous few years and it will be only a matter of time before they lift the Provan-Summons trophy. I'd kill to be able to have the same outlook for the Tigers.
The party who probably comes out of this whole fiasco with his reputation somewhat tarnished is Cleary. He could have pulled the rug out from under this whole circus swiftly and moved on but instead we get a couple of lame and insipid press conferences that just made him look sneaky and weak. I think it's only a matter of time before he's back at Penrith and I legitimately wish him success as he seems to be a genuinely good guy who has just made a few poor choices in dealing with this whole soap opera.
What we as a club need more than anything is stability. While I think Madge is the better coach he doesn't carry the same kind of gravitas that Bennett does, which is why, at this stage, I'd prefer Benny.
