Spurs go for £12m Giovani

By BEN KINSELLA
Published: Today

TOTTENHAM have agreed a £12million deal for Barcelona’s wonderkid Giovani Dos Santos.
Spurs beat Chelsea, Manchester City and Inter Milan to the Mexican winger and are also on the brink of signing defender Richard Dunne from City for £5m.
Giovani, 19, was swayed after meeting White Hart Lane chiefs in London back in January.
Inter and City were last night desperately trying to persuade agent Pini Zahavi to get the player to change his mind.
Spurs’ swoop has stunned Chelsea, who made two failed raids for Giovani after tracking his development for four years.
Barca offered Gio the chance to move on loan but he has grown disillusioned with the Nou Camp.
Meanwhile, Dunne has held advanced talks with Spurs and will complete a switch after his medical.
Aston Villa and Portsmouth were also interested in the City skipper, 28.

  • Cardiff have rejected £5mil offers from Arsenal and Liverpool for Aaron Ramsey. They want more money.
  • Juventus don't want to pay the £16mil Liverpool want for Xabi Alonso. They're willing to pay £12mil, and will turn their attention to Alberto Aquilani if Liverpool don't relent
  • Milan are set to make a huge offer for Frank Lampard, while Chelski have attempted to farm Didier Drogba out to any club who wants him
  • Portsmouth will bid up to £10mil for Shaun Wright-Phillips
  • Arsenal are favourite to snare Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey
  • Aston Villa want Atletico's Giourkas Seitaridis
  • Middlesbrough will bid £2mil for Sheffield Utd's Stephen Quinn
  • Derby forward Craig Fagan will be Hull's first summer signing
  • Aston Villa have launched an £8mil bid for Man City's Joe Hart
  • Andre Ooijer wants to leave Blackburn
  • Mark Beevers has rejected a move to Chelski, preferring to stay with Sheffield Wednesday
  • Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Sevilla winger Diego Capel
  • Marseille are set to sign Bolton's El Hadji Diouf

Yeah, go Beevers! Why would he want to move to Chelsea to play reserves? Clearly he has learnt from Steve Sidwell. He's MUCH better off playing plenty of first-team football for the Mighty Owls. Especially as we'll be going up next year. :D

Spurs are apparently announcing a tripple signing this week or early nextweek.

The good money is on Dos Santos, Veloso and Colloccini.

The Capel rumour seems to have gone a bit cold.

Big Guns On Alert As Villa Made Available For £17m - Report

Contrary to earlier reports that Valencia valued their star David Villa at €40 million, the Daily Mail reports that he could leave the club for as little as £17 million...The Spanish international is being watched by Real Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, with Arsenal - a club he singled out for praise last month - also outside contenders for his signature.

Despite winning the Copa del Rey this season, Valencia are in complete disarray following their group stage elimination from the Champions League and near-relegation in La Liga and will have to sell at least one of their big name stars in order to stay afloat and indeed rebuild for the future.

The striker has insisted that he will not decide on his future until after Euro 2008, and should this prove to be the case, a good campaign may well see £17 million rise to much more, though it is highly unlikely Valencia will get anything in the region of the €40 million they are hopeful of netting for the ex-Real Zaragoza man.

Real Madrid are thought to be at the head of the queue for the 26-year-old, with Chelsea close behind and Tottenham perhaps slightly out of their financial weight class.

Hahaha...not a chance.

They might be an outside chance of getting that 4th Champions League spot. but thats it...

And how is that not giving the league abit of a shake, the top 4 is almost inevitable, so another team displacing a regular would be huge.

even the most ambitious Spurs fan would be happy with 4th spot

its one thing to get good players, its another to get them to play as a team

and another to stay injury fee
