‘one where geography dictated where he wanted to go, simple as that’.

Sure Brendan, we believe you.

James Rodriguez is said to have completed his medical at Madrid.
James will be officially presented tonight at 8:00 pm [Marca]. (Local time +2 GMT. 4am AEST)

Personally I'd take Di Maria over Rodriguez any day of the week. I think James's form at the World Cup, while exceptional, has overshadowed what he has actually achieved at club level so far in his career.

Obviously Real see it differently though.

f**k it must be easy to support RM/Barca

Was talking about this exact thing with a Madrid fan at work. Asked him how much fun every transfer window must be for him. Club has buckets of $$$$ to spend every window and can literally buy whoever they want.

Meanwhile us reds have to settle with raiding Saints

Please don't tell me you're crying poor despite your Suarez money?

Who said anything about crying poor. It's not like we don't spend money, it's more the players we have to target due to the club being shit for a while now.

Can someone explain to me why PSG can't buy Di Maria due to FFP, but Madrid can shell 80mil for Rodriguez, and what ever for Bale last year, and Barca can get Neymar and Suarez in consecutive windows.

Also, I read this last night and thought it was amazing.

Real have spent 262 million in securing Ronaldo, Bale and james.

Ajax have spent 232 million on transfers since 1900.

Real would make bucket loads in TV revenue as they negotiate separate deals like Barca do in spain, plus there is merchandising, gate receipts, prize money and no doubt money coming in from sales. All that gets taken into account against transfer fees and all the associated costs, which there are freaking heaps and players wages.

The FFP works in a buy-sell type way. You can buy as many players as you want but you have to sell to accomodate for those players. PSG just buy players. David Luiz, Cabaye and on top of that they are buying Di Maria. They haven't been selling to accomodate for those players. Whereas with Real Madrid selling Ozil and Higuain, it accomodated for Bale. And selling Di Maria/Khedira is most likely going to accomodate for James.
