I know we need a coach with runs but non will come across. Our club won’t allow a coach to bring his own staff with them. It is Groundhog Day all over.

If we want someone of an old boy go get Jason Ryles. I know people will howl me down but I spoke to someone recently who told me Ryles is up there in the coaching smarts. And he has had the best teacher in Bellamy.
Other than Ryles approach Brian Smith give him 2 years to fix us up and get rid of him. Now there is 1 person who will get rid of dead wood without a thought of what Mr O’Connor or whatever that delusional human name is.
The likes of O'Connor is a real problem on the Board. Let's face it we need a good cleanout. SGI needs to be a club that has people on the Board who act only in the best interest of SGI on and off the field.

Don't think O'Connor is still on the board as Win people would have taken his spot.

In all fairness widdop is guilty of the sideways crab too
Our halves perform poorly when our forwards are dominated. Mary's game plan relies solely on forward domination and when that does not occur, our whole backline falls apart; including the halves.

Widdop won't make a difference. He will be wary of being injured again and so will not put in a full effort. Norman will not be quick enough at the back but Mary won't worry about that. Aitken and Lafai will be exposed game after game yet

Mary will not make changes because he knows that if his forwards do not dominate, our backline is not up to the task.

A good coach would make the following changes given we really do have no chance of making the 8:
1. Lomax when he is fit to play - Dufty until then
2. Pearson to give him time to step up to his best for 2020
3. Ravalawa give him time to perform at centre
4. Lafai until Lomax is fit to play then Norman at 4
5. Saab given we want him ready to go in 2020
6. Widdop because he has already said his playing at 6
7. Hunt let's hope he is ready to perform
8. K Sims
9. McInnes
10. Vaughan
11. T Sims
12. Frizell
13. Ford

14. Graham if he is fit
15. Lawrie
16. Leilua
17. Host/Timm/Kerr/

If you play the 'Power Game Plan' you always need 4 forwards on the bench to ensure maximum vigour up front. This situation calls for the blooding of players we want to select in first grade next season.

Mary is dreadful but I can't imagine Barrett being any better. Though he would be able to provide his own furniture, if required.
Anyway, no coach can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and our back 5 is the worst I've ever seen. For me it's sprint training for Luce (who becomes a centre), let Rava, Pearson, Aitken and Lafai go and go after Kyle Turner, Hymel Hunt, Kurt Capewell and Matthew Ikuvalu who are all off contract, I believe, Not world-beaters, but better than anything we've got right now.
So we look something like : Lomax/Dufty, Saab, Leilua, Hunt/Capewell, Pereira/Dufty, Norman, Hunt, Vaughan, McInnes, Lawrie, T Sims, Frizzell, K Sims + Ford, Host, Kerr, Turner

Millward could never competently handle such a big task. For 2020 I would be happy if we could go for this top 17 and a mix of juniors and good backup first graders for reserve grade:
  1. Lomax
  2. Pearson
  3. Ravalawa
  4. New Centre
  5. Saab
  6. Norman
  7. Hunt
  8. New Prop
  9. McInnes
  10. Vaughan
  11. T Sims
  12. Frizell
  13. De Belin / New Lock
  14. K Sims
  15. Lawrie
  16. Leilua
  17. Graham / Ford
Players still under contract and who we can't move on will have to start in reserve grade (Pereira, Aitken and Lafai come to mind). Hopefully these players can be moved on during the off-season.
