Barrett may be good as an assistant coach (an improvement on what we have now) however, SGI needs a top grade coach who can take us to a grand final within 3 years. Does that bring back fond memories anyone?

Poss can't think of many good candidates out there. Holbrook with Barrett as assistant may work.

If I remember correctly, McGregor asked for 3yrs got only 2. The horror season that is 2019 has opened the door for Barretts early return.

Barrett has a 40% win/loss ratio.

IBarrett is another Illawarra old boy and just as bad as McGregor.

When he came back from England to join the Sharks in 2009, he said he wanted to join a team that had a shot of winning the title. I took that as a snide remark at us saying we had no chance of winning.

Not sure if Barrett is the answer, but . . .
1. He has played for clubs other than Dragons/Steelers
2. He has coached clubs other than Dragons/Steelers
3. He was not afraid to tell the Manly owners what he thought of them.

That puts him well ahead of Mary in my book.

I think they need to first get rid of Young and Hornby. They have been there far to long and look like yes men to Mary. Saints are stuck with Mary no matter what. Sad. Sack Mary and bring in Demitriou. Most successful coach since Bennett left winning a comp for the red V.

Barrett is doing video reviews for Mary at the moment I heard in commentary against the Storm I think or maybe it was NRL360. Reviewing the game against the Raiders he would have seen a thousand issues. Would not have the time in a whole week to go through them all.

Barrett will be a repeat of McIdiot. If we are to move forward as a professional unit, the entire coaching staff of ex-players need to go.

Bring in a professional with a team who know what it takes to make a winning team. Until the board do that, we will continue down the same path we have been on since Bennett left.

How many 1st grade games has he coached?. Garth Brennan was a successful reggies coach too and supposedly one of the next big things!

Correct, but whoever takes over next will have to undo all McGregors bad systems.

Secondly, what if they still have to work with hornby and young, which is likely....that's why I called it a poisoned chalice....no problem for an experienced coach like Bennett....problem is we will not get someone like that.
