Trent Merrin offered record deal by St George Illawarra as Dragons await decision on

grouch,

Mate I was / am a fan of Trent's.

Its been apparent now for some time, there are underlying issues, of which I am not privy to.

However, using the old " method of elimination ", I believe that either a.) promises were made and not delivered by management. Wouldn't be the first time we have done this tbh. or b.) Trent's management and / or Trent, believe the figure quoted is undervalued.

Either way, there a real sense and smell of BMoz here. Don't you also sense that ?

If we agree on that, and the Club, rightly or wrongly cant afford him, we need to look at options and fast.

Its not the first time and i know it wont be the last.

TS
I remember the shit you copped when you called the dud body language at the Morris presser with Mary.
You're right on this one too mate.
There's plenty going on down here, the hacks on level 4 of 77 Market street like letting snippets out from time to time.

Commish, thanks.

We need to accept the fact, like it or not, that Mez wants out.

As always, you "get it ".

PS there is no Crisis here...yet :(

Go well.

Another judas in the ranks. Talks about love for the club, blah blah blah, then the Club makes a very fair offer and we get this crap. Finally can some on here who follows other sport quote me 1 player manager name? The NRL has these player managers almost as well known as the players themselves?

If Trent wants to test the market then let him, this is the same guy who was told by several clubs as a kid he was lazy and needed to go away and have a think about what he really wants to do in the game.

As I have said its funny how these guys all loved Price yet played like a bunch of smelly turds then what do you know a new coach and all of a sudden they want to leave.

Right or wong Mary may have put a few players in their place and I would hazard to say Merrin is one of them.

Oh absolutely I smell it. The stench is overpowering, like cab driver BO. Our best players aren't even waiting for the car to stop before opening the door and leaping out into the fresh air.

Following the terse reply from Merrin Management , the Dragons should go on the front foot and either put a time frame on the offer , or withdraw it altogether and spend their time chasing others who may represent better value .
Got to agree Dylan Napa or Kane Evans , outstanding prospects , would be the way to go.
There is also a youngster from Canberra,,Shannon Boyd..?? Would also be worth an inquiry ;-)

The issue is that he wants more than he's worth
Does anyone honestly dispute that?
If he leaves the club, it will be because someone is paying overs
Or he has issues with the coach / club
Can't keep everybody happy all of the time and others are being feted
$600K is more than he's worth IMO
Take it or leave it.

I've got a different take on the Merrin affair. I think he has gotten off-side with Mary and in his mind, if the offers are similar, he would rather go to a Club with a good coach and be happy. He would see it to be good value at the Brocos or the Roosters.

A bet each way there.

Another high-profile current rep player wants out. But don't call it a crisis.

Kasiano. What a player! Far lower workrate than Mez, inferior footwork, penalty magnet. Amazing

600k is a very good offer for Merrin, he is not elite gets dominated at Origin level.

We signed Widdop, Marshall, Dugan, Thompson and others.
We lost BMoz who wants to play with his twin (ya know the one that he dresses exactly the same as) but you go with an ulterior unsubstantiated motive there if you like. Moz who stayed with price is forced out by Mary. Yes of course that's it.
Mez wants more money than he's worth; he seems to bat above his average in other areas so why not?

Do ya think that we may have got into a bit of a hole paying overs for Widdop, Dugan and Marshall during the price era?
Maybe based on that, others got a little jealous and thought that they were worth more too?
Want more?
Marshall, Widdop and Dugan bring some pretty big egos to the club and justifiably so. Do you think a few egos of incumbents may be put out of joint?
For this and other reasons that I won't discuss here the club hires Peter Mulholland to oversee recruitment and retention. He is an astute negotiator and has a broad understanding of the respective market values of all players in the NRL.
A crisis will occur if and when we're at the bottom of the table or thereabouts mid 2015 otherwise, Chicken Little, buy some SPF15+ and enjoy the summer.

Chicken Little thought the sky was falling when 1 acorn fell on it's head. That analogy doesn't really work.

The correct anaology is this: the fans are being pissed on but Doust and his apologists are telling us it's raining.

Trent has a higher opinion of himself then the majority of the supporters, IF the rorters and donkeys think he is worth overs then good luck to them. If he has a problem with Mary then its bye bye Trent. I don't really like having a rookie coach but he is signed sealed and delivered for three years the players have just got to live with it and so do we. :(

I'm undecided on Merrin.

$600k is a lot of coin, but I agree with other that his best years are ahead of him. Letting him go could bite.

End of the day, the club is in a hole. What we're 600k over the cap and we finished 11th? So clearly, we have a whole heap of overpaid and overrated players. Hunt is one, Beale is another. Heck you can argue Dugan, Widdop and Marshall are overpaid given how we went this year. All because Price and Doust had no clue how to build a team without breaking the bank. Mulholland has been tasked to fix the screw up, hence tough decisions need to be made.

Maybe Merrin is worth more than $600k, but not for a club that is already over the cap with a roster that was dominated by so many teams this year.

I say reluctantly....we need to let him go and start over.

Again.

Only one acorn had fallen since Mary had her little lamb
Mez maybe one big MF of an acorn but he's still on the tree ATM :D
