Well I took something different.

The crime itself was not that relevent other than most would be disturbed by it.

I thought it was more about what a 'True Detective' would do and lengths they will go too, and the toll it takes.

During this case, they lose freindship, wives, kill and test thier moral compass in every way. The toll dealing with the worst of worst cases on cops and how they persist, bend and break laws to stop the worse scum we produce.

Anyways I enjoyed it.

Not a very good finale, show didn't much deliver on what it was promising. All of that character establishment only to have a blue graphic flash on screen and all of a sudden Rust got a feeling and his belief about death has 180'd. All that extensive cult build up thrown out the window to have it all boil down to a cliched arena melee against a single big bad guy. All the questions of the why barely even touched on. Woody at least was done well.

100% agree.

And with all your other posts as well. I get that it is about the journey but why put so much time in to the other things and get out interest high just to ignore them?

I still enjoyed it but the pacing was all wrong and the last 2 episodes were a bit rushed.

Yeah I understand that, but did anyone actually believe that there was something mythical and mysterious at play in the murders?

Like some sort of Witch King was responsible for the murders lol

No. but CLEARLY the bad guys did. Why even f**kin mention it if you are going to completely ignore it when the time for closure comes.

JESSICA CHASTAIN OFFERED LEAD ROLE IN HBO’S TRUE DETECTIVE SEASON 2

BY MERRILL BARR ON MAY 20, 2014

It’s hard to deny the most impactful show of the last season was HBO’s True Detective. From the word “go,” audiences were instantly on board with the twenty year journey of Rust and Marty to find the elusive Yellow King. In the end, the series reached massive critical acclaim and was confirmed to be seeking a full blown Outstanding Drama Series for HBO come Emmy time. But with all this critical acclaim comes questions, since the series exists in an anthology format that would completely retool the cast and story arc in Season 2. The major question looming over next year’s production? Who is going to lead the charge?

Recent rumors have stated series creator Nic Pizzolatto was seeking a female-driven cast for Season 2 of the hit HBO series, and now today, Nerdist has learned exclusively one of the names that may be on the bill in 2015: Jessica Chastain.

According to sources, the Zero Dark Thirty actress has been offered a leading role in the second season but has yet to accept. As for official confirmation, we reached out to representatives for Chastain, who have declined to comment at this time.

This would be a major land for the HBO series. Chastain has taken off since Zero Dark Thirty (Interstellar, anyone?), and as she continues to rise, it would be fascinating to see what she could do with a character over a ten-episode arc. As for who would stand alongside the Academy Award-nominated actress, that’s anyone’s guess, but for now, this is the best result we could have asked for.

Just watched season 1. Amazing show although I feel they stuffed too much narrative into the last 2 episodes and didn't resolve as much as I would have liked, but maybe that was the point?

Sucks we won't get to see Matthew Mcconaughey's character again. Rust cole is one of the greatest TV show characters of all time.

Rachel McAdams also on board for season 2.

Can't wait.
I'm a fan of Farrell, and I think Vince Vaughn will do a good job. He's a decent dramatic actor.

Power disc'd through this series over Christmas, amazing show.

Great characters and story line, really well done. Hard to keep track of the clues and direction they were going but overall happy with the ending.

Would love to see those characters again, but good to see they're not milking it by forcing another series out that story.

Interested to see if they can create the same high standard with a new story and charatcers for season 2.

if you watch it through again you will see and hear things that you didn't pick up on first time around that makes sense.

I have faith in the makers of the show that season 2 will be just as good.

Indeed.

The creator, Nic Pizzolatto only wants to do three seasons of this so it's apprent that he will treat the following seasons with just as much care and put in the same attention to detail.

My only problem is Vince Vaughn, I don't think he can deliver anything like McConaughey or Harrelson. Though I have some faith in him.

Might start it this weekend. Those hoyts kiosks rent out entire seasons.

Yeah that's where I got it from, some great special features on there as well. Worth every cent!

I have a McConaughey man crush now, also known as McConaughey Syndrome.

Good news about Farrell but I just can't picture Vaughn in something like this.

I wasn't sold on Harrelson initially because he was typecast as the douchebag in everything before this (kinda like Vaughn), thankfully he played it straight because the source material is so good. On that basis I think Vaughn will be fine.

Would love to see those characters again, but good to see they're not milking it by forcing another series out that story.

The fact that he only wants to do a limited amount of seasons and not leave it open to turning into a make-it-up-as-you-go-along series bodes well.

Or those hyping it don't actually watch good television, shows in which themes and character arcs are well crafted, developed and then aptly concluded instead of bizarrely abandoned and denied.

no show is immune to criticism, and you've certainly had your shot at it.

But because some of us 'hype' it, and you don't like it, the conclusion you draw is that we don't watch good television?

tv shows are a form of art, art is subjective. most people who watched it loved it, so you are in the minority here buddy.

With the show's star power and word of mouth garnered during the series where it was mostly worthy of it the likelihood is that many people who don't usually watch television of depth were roped into it. More so than those who found it wanting having simple tastes.

My mum watched and liked this, her favourite show is now the Kardashians because she's gone off the Block, too many ads.
