But, according to the ARLC and Nine, if you live in QLD you MUST be a Broncos fan?!
I hear the ARLC are going to buy everyone a Broncos jersey with their billion dollars.

Jesus wept. How popular will the game be in 2017 when rights are next up for grabs? That is the billion dollar question. Totally screwing over the fans as they have is not going to assist in the popularity of the game especially in the face of such vigorous marketing from the afl.

No one has mentioned in this day and age of technology that if you really want to watch the second fri night game then you have to totally disconnect from the world. No Internet, social media or mobile phones in case your mates want to celebrate/ rub in the score if your game. To allow for delayed telecast is an absolute and utter joke.

Actually if you have an Internet connection there are ways you can actually watch the second game.

Has the game been losing fans every year for the last 6 years? How is the next 5 years going to be any different?

and the whining from the morons continues

lets have a butterfly effect scenario here shall we

you wake up to a deal yesterday that has
more FTA games
a nice clear picture
a grand final at 3pm on a sunday
& we get $700 Million for this

oh & we're still stuck with first & last rights for the next 3 deals

& the rest of the sporting world in this country doing this for the next 5 years at us

Rugby & Aust Rules able to take our stars because the salary cap would have to stay as is .. no expansion anyway .. because we wouldn't be able to afford it .. kids looking to other sports for their professional careers as our game has actually gone backwards
half of our 16 clubs .... in serious risk of not surviving

but hey .... cheap @rses get to see more games on FTA & its a nice clear picture

the 2nd scenario
what actually happened yesterday

our code is a financial powerhouse
no first & last rights clauses anymore
all 16 clubs assured of survival
expansion on our terms ... no one elses
our stars of the future staying in our game

&

no one is laughing at us
they are doing these :o:sarcasm:

the moaning half wits in this thread need to get a grip
the dribble they've been going on with is... embarrasing

our code is on its way
if they had their way .... it would be stuck in neutral for the next 5 years.

So the NRL will not do any vigorous marketing of their own with their billion dollars??

The funds might also go so far as to employ another 200 or so development guys into western sydney, country and interstate areas to assist junior development.

For the first time the NRL can actually compete with the AFL in this area...

Jesus wept.

To everyone saying it costs $70 / $80 / $90 to get basic foxtel or with sports, you have all been sucked in by the Foxtel marketing. It is not that expensive.

Foxtel
- Get started pack, that is just the basic range of channels is only $45/mo ($540/yr, $10/wk)
- Get started + sport is $61/mo ($732/yr, $14/wk)
- Get started + sport + HD is $71/mo ($852/yr, $16/wk)

Foxtel on Xbox360 (assuming NRL will be shown just as the AFL is)
- Get started is $19.50/mo ($234/yr, $4.50/wk)
- Get started + sport + NRL is $49.50/mo ($594/yr, $11/wk). With no lock in contract you could get away with only $49.50 x 6/mo = $297/yr.

no of course it hasn't lost a single veiwer or fan ...it has grown expedentially in this period

& it will do the same over the next 5 years

& our starting price will be a billion dollars for the next deal ...

Exactly.

A live game on Saturday nights will not help pay anyone. 40 million dollars a year will.

I find it hard to believe that QLD does not have fans of the other 13 NRL clubs. Gyngell can f**k off

Here's the story that will come out soon -

From everything that is known Ten/Fox vs 9/Fox were offering similar amounts of money per year but with 9/Fox slightly ahead on cash per year and 10 offering more F2A games.

The NRL were going to take less cash and go with 10. Legally though - as required by F&LR - they had to go back to 9 & Fox to inform them.

To stay in the game 9 & Fox conceded their future first & last rights - you can guess as to how much they're worth given that they've dictated every NRL broadcast deal thus far and limited growth - and as such also most likely changed their bid from the 6 year length first suggested to 5 years (as it was no longer required) - plus also offered at a guess about $21 million a year more to bring it up to the final amount.

NRL would've then told 10 & 7 that they had received a better offer but those networks would've then kept to their previous offers and not budged.

The NRL then had a choice to either go with 10 for less money and 1 extra F2A game or go with 9 & Fox with more money but less 1 F2A game.

The whingers could put their hands in their pockets and get Fox or go to their local and watch the game.

WAAAAHH NOT ENOUGH TV FOR MEEEE. Sickening stuff.

So basically what you're saying is F**k the kids, noone cares if they miss out? 64% of familiies don't have Foxtel, a large portion of those simply cannot afford it and kids can't simply go to the pub to watch the game. "Just get Foxtel" is a simple solution but for those who are struggling to pay the bills they already have and live in fear of having their house reposessed because they can't make their mortgage payments this simply isn't an option. For a lot fo kids the 2nd Friday game is simply too late, even though it's a Friday they simply struggle to stay awake until 11:30.

I guess more and more people will be streaming games illegally. I'm sure that will do plenty to help the game.

Getting rid of the first and last rights is pretty big. But not huge. It was only ever a way of Nine ensuring they are kept in the loop for bidding, in case for some reason the NRL powers decided to remove Nine from the bidding equation altogether. Some of you make it out to be more than it is, as long as there are other entities bidding then it is not a big deal

I think they did well altogether though, and may be considered a stepping stone towards a monuments next deal. I'm surprised they didn't cut up the SOO into its own package though.

Gyngell said that if the NRL does not schedule the Broncos for Friday night, they will show a Broncos game anyway. Even if it's a replay from 1993.

:lol::lol:
any deal which allows the networks to bend elague over still sucks. i dont care if more money than previously is coming in it's still shit.

hopefully the ARLC will gvie a fair draw to ALL clubs over the first 20 rounds before nein bends the game over for the remaining 6

Lots of people around the northern beaches in this boat are there? I guess that's why they can't afford to travel into Sydney to watch their team go around?

f**k the poor, if they gave up the Maccas/KFC every night as well as the ciggies, booze and meth they could afford Foxtel.
