$925M + 100M Contra from 9 and Fox Sports, and probably
$150M from Telstra for interwebs (whats gonna happen with naming rights? How much content will be online? What sort?)
$200M from Sky for NZ rights... so
$1.275B over 5 years in cash, $255M a year, plus $20M in contra advertising each year. (More than the 18 team AFL, because of NZ market and Origin). Doc, you really knew your stuff predicting $1.3-1.4B.
That doesn't take into account expansion. Would that 9th game be on free to air? Will it happen before the end of the deal?

That should be more than enough to fund everything the game wants over the next 5 years - expansion, juniors, increasing grant, increase cap, increase rep payments, marketing, et cetera. Hopefully the NZRL gets paid a fair share too.

I wonder if the ARLC agreed to the terms offered because of 9's first and last rights - 9 went really hard early, and by just accepting terms like what we already have, they avoided any legal conflict. Easier to just let it slide now and take the cash, as it won't happen again...
Good deal in terms of cash (probably better than the AFL's when its all settled), no real improvement in terms of broadcast though.
EDIT- just noticed we got out of all First and Last rights agreements. Thats not a bad get from News Ltd. I'm guessing the price of this was the concessions to the Storm, and the fox sports Ipad stuff they were talking about.
