I'm going to love bumping this thread next season when everyone is complaining. It will be worth seeing all these people choking on their words.

If the challenge system comes in they will have all the time in the world for ads.

Gyngell doesn't like the idea of ads in the footy and slowing it down

so the NRL haven't bent over and changed anything about they way games are played by introducing breaks for ads and having quarters

a lot are still missing out how big a deal this is http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/n...etain-nrl-rights/story-e6frfgbo-1226454690915

"Very significantly, and a factor that played heavily in the Commission's final decision, is the release of Nine, Fox, and most particularly News, over all their rights in regard to future agreements."

Remember that was the only way they'd ever get a billion...

.... if it were Gallop?

Gallop who organised this deal rather than Grant and the ARLC.

It would be a completely different story, but some here have massive blinkers on anything the ARLC do. This has been a major fail.

It is just more of the same.Just more money so the club bosses get an easier job of it and some will have a lot more $$$ to rort through family companies and the like.

Nothing more or less in this deal for fans.

I hope the radio rights are sorted out properly. With foxtel & IQ the TV deal is OK. The current radio coverage is terrible.

Shane Mattiske is on 2SM right now.

Absolutely DISGRACEFUL handling of the question in regards to an offer by a free to air broadcaster over 800million that also included 4 live games.

This bloke is a muppet.

We want more daytime games, so the deal delivers us another night game for half the season...

A quick skim though seems like a good deal to me despite 9 keeping the rights. Love the fact they got rid of first and last rights.

Hughes is absolutely grilling Mattiske at the moment.

Mattiske will not answer Hughes' question that another network offered to show four live games on FTA per weekend. Hughes asked it about four times and Mattiske came back with the same old rehearsed response. He just couldn't answer the question.

Looks like another network offered live FTA footy on Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. Methinks this was Channel 10.

As i said in the other thread. 800-850million for what i said in the other thread would have been a great victory for mine.
This is a failure on all levels except money.

Sorry must of missed that post. My next question is, do you think that 10 and Fox would be willing to pay that amount? Especially Fox as they are currently losing money on the AFL TV deal because it is not providing the new subscribers they were hoping for. It's all well and good saying we were screwed over and the ARLC have dropped the ball, but what if 10 and Fox only offered $600 million? Would you still accept that offer? Maybe 10 offered the same amount but wanted a fully flexible schedule. Or they wanted a Thursday night game and a Sunday night game each week. We dont know what éveryone offered and unless we do then you can't criticise what deal was done.

Absolutely woeful attempts to dodge the question. Seriously shocking.

Why don't they just be honest and in their best Tom Cruise voice come and say.

Show me the money.

Well, I can't afford Foxtel unless I want to give up on other hobbies and I hate the delayed games so it looks like unless Manly are playing, I won't be watching anything but the occasional Friday night game. Shame we can't get coverage that is similar to what the AFL gets but I guess the NRL is looking at something more along the lines of Super 15 where the only people that follow it are those that are extremely passionate about the game. I always have been but the more it gets out of reach, the more I lose interest.
