Remember that the ARLC is tasked with administering the game of rugby league, not just the NRL. A larger cash component will allow for greater investment into the game as a whole as opposed to the viewing experience of a single competition.

I spent from 1995-2009 either listening to Raiders games on the radio or (towards the end) watching games at the pub, I invested in fox because I know that a team such as mine will never get the share of games that a team like the Broncos would. With new media becoming a reality, its easier to watch a game than it ever has been.

If spent wisely, rugby league in Australia/New Zealand has a golden opportunity to free itself of its oppressors and work its way towards insurmountable popularity. Even without Fox I would have copped the hit for the greater good of the game.

It is a crap deal. The IOC agreeing to delayed footy at all is a massive failure. The FTA aspect of the game hasn't improved at all. We are still stuck with channel 9 who do nothing but shit on fans of the NRL. The only good things coming from the deal are the fixed scheduling for the first 20 rounds and the $1 billion. The 2 Friday night games will also mean the Broncos will be on Friday night almost every week which is shit. As a fan of the Broncos I would love to go to Sunday games or Saturday night games ahead of a Friday night fixture.

It can't be ONLY about the money though. Yes a billion dollars is good but this agreement is going to drive people away from the game. As I already said, I can't afford Foxtel and like most people I hate the delayed games so I'm just not going to be able to watch that much footy. I don't live near Brookvale Oval and taking a 2 year old to night games just isn't feasable. My options are pretty limited and I'd imagine plenty of supporters are in worse situations than me. the ARLC has dropped the ball. More money means nothing to the fans that do not get to see their teams play.

I don't see how anyone can see this as a good thing?

- Everyone hates the fact Broncos are on every friday - That stays.
- Everyone wants more daytime football - They add a Sunday night fixture
- Everyone prefers a daytime GF or at least the 5:30pm kick off - They move it back to Sunday night
- Everyone wanted more live FTA games - Stays with 1 FTA game a week.

Oh I forgot, we get $1 Billion and the first-last rights removed!

Seems worth it for giving us the opposite of what we wanted.

Latching onto the first/last bid rights like thats great news. But its completely irrelevant if we sign with 9 for a $$$ while allowing everything that is WRONG with this game to keep on going.

The money is only going to be handy if used correctly.

Do you think a board containing some of the best business minds in the country would not have a long term strategy to which money will be directed? You can't base future performance on the past performance of a separate entity. I swear that hysteria was outed as nonsense years ago.

$92 a month according to foxtel.

I'd rather pay my house off faster than spend $1104 a year on foxtel. It's also a lot of money for some people, keeping in mind that RL has traditionally been the game of the working class.
