In all honesty they could insert any number of actors into the role of Charlie, starting with his brother.

Its not like the part involves any sort of huge presence, exact mannerisms or delicate timing. Its acting like an asshole and making sex and fart jokes.

Nothing against the show, I've enjoyed many a cheap laughs watching it, just can't see how he has become so irreplaceable.

Oh yes it does.

For reference, please see Friends, Will & Grace, Frasier, Murphy Brown and That 70's Show. Also for non-sitcom examples, please see JAG, 7th Heaven, One Tree Hill, Smallville, I could go on and on and on...

The Simpsons has sucked for over 12 years now.

But the Simpsons had credit in the bank, and unfortunately gets watched regardless of quality/makes a shedload, so will not die.

Pity, first 9-10 seasons of The Simpsons is the best show of all time.

agreed, personally. I have the first 10 seasons on DVD and that is all you need.. though, season 11 & 12 do have some decent episodes - it really starts to decline after that... just another counter-example.

Friends was great, W&G ill give up, Frasier was pretty good ( you going to say cheers sucked aswell?)

JAG was decent also spawned the awesome NCIS, 7th heaven was targeted more to the Religous type, OTH ive never watched and smallville was good for the first 3-4 seasons

That's true but a once great show with great social commentary is reduced to utter garbage for the sake of the $, their credit has run out as far as I am concerned by making more crap than good.

The fact that this show lasted so long (and may yet continue) whist a show like Arrested Development was cancelled mid-season says alot about the stupidity of Americans/tv watchers.

totally agree. AD is addictive, cocaine addictive..................... I have always thought 2 1/2 men is utter tripe, my missus has made me watch it at times and I struggle to see what has made this show so damn popular?? But lets be honest, the average person out there is an assclown............. wife included.

Could Charlie Sheen close a deal that will lead to him reprising his role in Two and a Half Men?

CHARLIE Sheen and CBS are reportedly close to a deal that would see the actor return to Two and a Half Men, sources say.

"CBS has offered him his job back. Discussions ongoing. Not a done deal," NBC reporter Jeff Rossen tweeted Monday, citing sources close to Sheen.

Earlier Monday, reports circulated that CBS president and CEO, Les Moonves, was working to bring the wayward actor back to the hit show after the comedy's production company had given Sheen the boot in early March.

Moonves was determined to bring the hit show back and was in discussions with Warner Bros. Television, which produces the show, to rebuild the numerous bridges burned between the ranting actor and the California-based program staff, Radar Online reported.

Discussions included "Men" co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre, who Sheen deemed a "contaminated little maggot" before hitting him with a $100 million lawsuit for unlawful termination.

"Moonves wants to get the show back on the air. He's all for it," an insider told the gossip website. "He says certain people need to forget anything and everything Charlie's done recently and just move on with the business at hand."

CBS is not the only network angling to claim the publicity-generating Sheen.

FOX confirmed Monday that Sheen sat down with Fox Sports president David Hill, Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice and Mike Darnell, president of Alternative Entertainment, for a brainstorming meeting last week.

Sheen has been a frequent guest on the "Dan Patrick Show" that airs on FOX Sports radio. FOX is owned by News Corporation, the parent company of NewsCore.

Earlier in March, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed he was also in talks with Sheen about a potential project on Cuban's TV network HDNet.

In the meantime, Sheen is preparing to launch his 21-show "Charlie Sheen LIVE: My Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour across the US and Canada.

Ashton Kutcher set to replace Charlie Sheen

resizer.aspx

Ashton Kutcher is ready to replace Charlie Sheen on the hit TV series Two and a Half Men, according to reports.

The actor is finalising a deal with broadcaster CBS and Warner Brothers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The show's creator, Chuck Lorre, has invented a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that should satisfy the network and the show's fans.

Kutcher has also been dropping hints on Twitter, writing "What's the square root of 6.25" this morning.

The answer is two and a half.

Apart from that , Kutcher is yet to give an outright answer as to whether or not he will be joining the cast.

Producers are hoping Kutcher will bring a younger audience to the show as well as having access to the 6.7 million people who follow him on Twitter.

The news has sparked a huge reaction from fans of the show, which airs in Australia on Channel 9.

Scores of people already have left comments on the Channel's Facebook page.

And opinion has been mixed, with some confused as to how the age difference between Sheen and Kutcher will be combated in the script.

Rhi Butler posted: "i think ashton is funny at times... but not that funny... he cant replace charlie sheen.. no one can... even tho charlie is an idiot... it will not work..."

Eleasha Slack wrote: "Ew, he's too cheesy, not enough sleazy. No one can replace Charlie. They should just call the show off."

Others claimed the move was "awesome news" and Kait Taylor said: "He's gotta be better than Sheen..and a lot easier on the eye..we already know he can play a dumbass...lol."

Other names put forward by fans include Jack Black, Rob Lowe and Adam Sandler. Emma Liselle Philips even suggested Sheen's real-life brother, actor Emilio Estevez, should take the role. She wrote: "At least the age and looks are similar. Although I don't think he's half as funny as Charlie."

Sheen was dropped from Two and a Half Men in March after he publicly criticised the show and appeared nonsensical in some media interviews.

He also launched a web series called Sheen's Korner and did a series of live stand up shows across America.
Well... I don't think anyone saw that coming!
