Yet you have shows like:
- Game of Thrones
- The Walking Dead

Which pull in a rather good viewer base in Australia...

On PayTV they pull about 100k iirc which whilst good for Pay TV, it isn't great.

Even if you double that number through torrents, usenet and other downloads it still isn't very high.

A lot of people don't have Showcase or whatever channel they play it on, it isn't one of the "basic" channels or whatever (I don't know how they do it all now).

I watch all the episodes online.

Did anyone here like Snowtown?

Wolf Creek, Snowtown and Animal Kingdom...Australia's film success the last 5 or so years has been pretty reliant on "true-story" serial killer stories. Which are right up my alley to be honest but it seems to be the way to go in Aus at the moment.

Another reason I don't watch Aust films, hate horror.

I don't like horror per-se but I am a pretty huge serial-killer/crime buff. Animal Kingdom is one of my very fave movies and I loved Snowtown. Wolf Creek was a bit more fictional/ridiculous so I didn't like it as much.

I watched Snowtown in the cinema with a few mates who were mostly pretty squeamish but I thought it was gripping. I'd read up absolutely everything I could about the Snowtown case for the best part of a decade so when they announced the film I couldn't wait to see it and I thought it delivered. All the local actors(a few of the main ones plucked off the streets of Snowtown itself by the director when visiting the area) did a really good job and I thought Henshall as Bunting was outstanding.

Definitely a polarising movie though so was wondering what others thought of it. As much as I loved it I don't know if I would watch it again...one of those movies where once is enough.

Look both Ways was another very good Australian film. I loved Round the Twist, fantastic show, you wouldn't get a kids show like that any more.

Speaking of early 00's SBS, Life Support, John Safrans Music Jamboree, now they were very good, clever TV shows I thought.

I LOVED Round the Twist! Now I have the song stuck in my head!

I'm not much of a fan of Australian tv, but I really enjoyed that new show Love Child. I hope it comes back for a second season.

When I was younger, Hey Dad was my fav. Also, A Country Practice! It just seems now, that most Aussie tv, is overloaded with people that cannot act. Maybe it was always like that? Maybe I just didn't notice.

The guy who played Bronson is a massive douche now apparently.
