 I dropped different things because I hated them and wanted to pursue things I had some passion for or enjoyed or whatever

Last session of Uni, a cool 9 hours of face time. In a row.

My entire week is 8:30-5:30 on Monday's, no break.

That would kick arse, sure Monday is f**king hell but you have a whole free week.

I managed to cram everything into Wednesday Thursday Friday (early finish on Friday too) so I can't complain.

Jeez 9 hours total? That's pretty good. I'd love to knock all that over on a single day.

First semester I ever did at Uni started with a 9 hour Monday, 9:00am - 6:00pm with an hour break somewhere, but I had another 18 hours spread across Tuesday - Friday...

Strange that my 1st semester ever had the most contact hours. Even last semester when I was doing an extra subject had only ~ 20 hours.

In spring session of last year, my Mondays went for 12 hours. 8:30am till 8:30 pm. There were like 3 one hour breaks in there though.

Yeah it's pretty good. Only two subjects, cos i've spaced the last couple years out a fair bit (cos it was going to take another two years anyway, may as well space it out).

Just a shit monday!

I think that is normal. From memory my 1st year was the most intense in terms of contact hours. 4 days a week for both semesters and the days were quite full as well. As the years went on the contact hours dropped.

finally finished my research proposal within the guidelines of the university I'm applying to. Sort of, I stretched a few of them, but I just sent it to the guy who will supervise me, he will tell me if I need to change anything and what adjustments I need to make.

I still need to submit the HDR application and a scholarship application *sigh*

I look back on my time at Uni with a lot of pride. I struggled big time in my first year.

I graduated in July last year with a Bachelor of Commerce major in Marketing from UOW. I went from scraping passes in my first year (also failed one subject and got a pass conceded in another), to getting HDs at the end.

I now work in the public sector doing Corporate Communications and Change Management and absolutely love my job.

My advice is not to be so willing to give up with Uni. A little bit of hard work goes a long way. Also surround yourself with good people at Uni. You're more likely to study hard when the people you spend time with are studying hard as well.

In contrast to the last post my motivation is running at an all time low and I haven't attended a class since week 4, currently week 8... I f**king hate it all :fist:

You need to make the hard decision I did. Whether to continue Uni or drop out and do something else with your life (there is nothing wrong with dropping out if it's for the right reasons).

After a year of hating Uni I sat back and asked myself a few questions:

1. Is this what I really want to do?
2. Am I giving it my best shot?
3. Can I be successful in completing my degree if I do give it my best shot?

I decided to keep going and I am so happy I did. I realised I was just being lazy and have completely turned my life around since. I realised that laziness gets you nowhere in life but a bit of hard work gets you where you want to go.

Think my biggest problem is that I needed a year off as I was already burned out after the HSC but I didn't take it. I've now been there for 4 years in what was supposed to be a 3 year degree (changed degrees a few times) and struggle to care about it any more. This is my last semester though so I figured I'd just try and get through it and be done with it.

Being able to still get reasonably good grades (5.9 GPA or something) and being a lazy prick at the same time doesn't help my cause tbh.

I completely agree with what you said though. The answers to question 1 and 2 are no, question 3 is yes but for the wrong reasons, lol.

I have an arts degree (a MASTERS even !!!!!) and a bunch of other things. I worked as a teacher for a bit but now I work for the government. Doing an arts degree was great. No regrets. I feel that I am lucky compared to a lot of people I know who took arts because some of them aren't really doing much with it but I love my job. Also I met my girlfriend in some history subject we were studying. Thats pretty nifty.

I am pretty tempted to go back into academia. Based on highly strung some of the posters in this thread have been I feel that working as an academic would be an interesting way to f**k with people. I used to things like make patterns in multiple choice tests when I worked as a teacher to make the kids doubt the answers as a pattern formed.
