Recruiters / HR can go suck a big fat one Rebel. 5 years of hearing the same BS "not enough experience" excuse for not hiring (including one for a graduate position, whose only requirement was to be a graduate like me) has driven me bonkers. It f**king pisses me off that I am stuck in bullshit retail roles while my tertiary education goes to waste.

I've been there. "You need experience to get a job, but you need a job to get experience etc". thats basically been my life in regards to Human Resource roles. Despite having a few years of Sales/Business admin experience and a qualification in the subject, the number of HR roles (Some entry level) That I have been knocked back from is annoying. Its a hard industry to get into which is why my options are open.

And back to your first point, recruiters generally act on behalf of their clients. Recruitment is quite sales focussed, so its a recruiters job to please the client. If a recruiter says you aren't qualified enough, it's because they are acting on the directive from their client to keep them happy.

is that because after your 9th trip in a week, the rest of your week is free?
And some trips are about 20 cents, so just take nine cheap trips early in the week, and travel freely (literally) all across Queensland for the rest of the week

I only tend to do 8. Work full time as well as uni with Friday working from home. I work not far from the uni as well so just walk there when I need to go there.

What did you study?

I know of a few people that went and worked for a company free of charge as a intern and got some experience, made some connections and ended up with a couple of job offers. In saying this it is not always as simple as it sounds.

You're all just gambling.
not if you're on hecs and plan never to make enough money to start paying it off.

I started paying it off last year, but then got all that money back on tax, I wonder if that affects how much is still owing

The balance would still be the same if nothing was paid off. I assume you meant you started paying it off when your weekly or monthly pay was at the required threshold. But then your situation changed and you did not earn enough over the financial year to hit the annual threshold so you got back what was originally deducted by your employer.

I started working relatively late in the financial year, so I got all my tax back. Some of the money that deducted as tax was to pay off hecs, but I got all the money I paid in tax back. That was last financial year. I'm not really sure what will happen this financial year

ahh well, that's alright. I don't really mind the idea of paying it off, it was worth it. I don't consider my actual degrees to be worth that much but the education I got, especially the stuff outside the classroom was valuable and worth paying for

I paid mine upfront to get the discount. But I did my degree part time whilst working fulltime so had the cash. I know some people have massive debts. But they failed many subjecs and chopped and changed courses.

my debt is only 20 something K. My economics lecturer in first year encouraged us all not to pay it off straight up, she told us that if we have the money or were given money by parents or whatever to pay it, we should put that money in a high interest savings account, accumulate interest plus the money we would be paying over our time in uni and pay it all at the end by which time we would have made a tidy few thousand dollars from interest.

That way you'd still get the discount because you get a discount for paying it all off in one go and you make some money from it too.

I didn't have any money to begin with so I didn't do this

I'm not sure what the point of putting in my application was when I am being asked for things that were on there. I posted the documents I was asked for today and then I totally gave my game away to the stoopid lady, I sent her this email
Hello Linda,

I have sent those documents you requested off in the post, when is the earliest I will be able to get my student card?

Cheers,
Hala
her response was annoying as, this bureaucracy is ridiculous
Hi Hala,

Thank you for your email.

Once I receive these documents, I will issue your Offer Letter shortly. After that, you need to accept your Offer Letter and return the acceptance form to me to enrol you in the system. Once you be enrolled in the system, you are able to apply your student card at student centre.

By the way, when you would like to start your research degree? I will put it on your Offer Letter.

Thanks and regards,

Linda
I gave up trying to disguise what I wanted and pretty much said I would like to start after you give me my student card
