Good to hear, I'm very glad I'll be back at Uni next month. Studying something completely new to, no longer doing design.

I'm contemplating doing that myself. Hard as it's be to live at home again, I'd like a qualification.

We don't want to live at home. she will be working and I will get a student loan so if its enough to pay for rent, we'll get a flat.

I may be able to find a cheap place in town, use AusStudy for some, and supplement the rest with website income. Living in a village of fifty doesn't entice.

What will you be studying?

I'm staying with my parents while I study. For a few reasons:
1) My dad only wants $50 board a week. He's not fussed about me giving him more. He just wants me to show initiative and responsibility. Much bigger saving then going alone or staying on/near campus.
2) My dad is a very big motivating factor for me, he's always one to be able to push me the extra mile.
3) I'm literally either 30minutes or 15minutes from the Uni's of my choice come July.
4) Living at home is awesome IMO. Free net, cooked food, pool table and much more to my use.

This is just me though. I think the $50 board though was my biggest favour, it allows me to save a lot extra every week. I see no real gain in going solo and putting financial strain on myself when I already have a hard course to study. I'll be getting money from AusStudy, part-time work, bit of design work on the side, iPhone apps (Should I eventually release mine) and other means (I'm looking at starting a VHS to HDD restoration business 1-2 days, cash in the hand).

I'm studying a big bloody course though. So, I guess that is another reason to.

What are you studying, D10?

TBH, and it's shameful for a 29 year old to say it, I'd not be adverse to living at home temporarily if my folks lived anywhere near anything. Free net, Foxtel, and food; good company; and I love the family property.

But unless I want to study by correspondence or commute 90 minutes to Armidale, it won't work.

My parents drive me mental if i'm around them for longer than a couple hours. I prefer peaceful poverty than putting up with bullshit.

At first I studied Bachelor of Communication Design as Billy Blue College of Design (A private college in North Sydney). My teacher was an absolute racist f*ck and I had other issues, so I left after one semester in 2011. Deffered to Enmore Design School (A division of the TAFE there) for Semester 2 2011.

All of 2012 I had off due to surgery and being very un-well with my genetic condition. Start of this year I went back to Enmore and resume studies but I've lost all my interest in design completely. With 1.5 years left to study, I can't see myself getting through. Not to mention, it's also a painful 90 minutes travel each-way.

So, after much research and discuss I've decided to get into a field I was passionate about since Day 1 and always very good at (Having been around it my whole life).

I'm doing my Bachelor of Medical Medicine with a major in Genetic Medicine. Either at Macquarie University of Hawkesbury University. From there, I go and do my internship and get into the field of medical work at a hospital. Hard f*cking work, but I'm going to set my self to it. Got both the brain and passion for it. So not going to let it go to waste doing something I wasn't enjoying.

As my dad told me. "You're an idiot if you ignore medicine. You got a condition that you know off the back of your hand. How many other people in Medicine can say to a patient "Yes, I know how you feel".

So, here I am. Wasted a few years f*cking around with design, but I'm still young.

My mum does my head-in x1000000. She always puts me down and expects me to obey her every command like I'm a slave. She also treats me like shit and favours my brother.

My dad on other hand (They're separated) is the most kind, humble and understanding person. I never argue with. Think last time I did I was 16/17 maybe. He's raised me well I'd like to think. Could easily live with him while I study to be honest. Hence, me making such a choice.

Fair call, mate. I wish what I was passionate about was remotely practical. Not a lot of options when blogging, social media, travel, and game design are your passions :p

There's option there mate, just have to find them. Developed countries with large industries offer more opportunities.

Have you looked at doing a course in 3D designing, rendering, game developing, animation and such? There's many options available in Sydney to such things an do game design. I know a few of my mates who study that. They run blogs/social media on the side and make a bit of money there. They've tapper their passion.

It's finding the job that's the next step for them!

Blogging, reminds me. I want to start my own one soon.

I'm lucky enough to have a pretty fantastic relationship with both of my folks. Used to fight with my Dad a lot, but I've outgrown him physically and learned to be less argumentative.
