Bump.

I am pretty close to making the decision to go back to University next year, even though I only just graduated in April. I am thinking of doing a B. Info Tech with a major in software development and get into a maths programming type of career, basically similar to what I was doing for part-time work last year. The good news is there are some overlapping courses from my Maths degree so it won't take the full 3 years.

^ Me in the 3rd week after I return probably. I have no f**king idea why I'd want to put myself through some of that shit again, I've convinced myself I will apply myself better this time

How much longer do you have to go?

I decided to start working as PT and drop down to 3 units a semester seeing as I have to do 120 hours of industry experience too, so I'm two years from finishing and then I want to do masters :(

Uni is awesome. A bit of work is a small price to pay for the awesome fun times had.

I just dropped down to 3 as well, struggling as it is with 3 subjects and a 30 hour work week. Glad I didn't push the 4th.

My last two semesters were 5 subjects each but I wasn't working. Although I was putting 40+ hours into gaming a week :sarcasm: I barely worked during Uni, was mooching off my parents. I'm sure I'll be in for a rude shock if I go back.

I'm sure my parents would support me if I asked, but the old man is saving for retirement and last thing I want to do is burden him with his loser son trying to get a shitty degree

It's tough though, I'm finding it more and more difficult to find time for my daily FFB post-whoring quota

Journalism is something I'd love to do but I'm way too much of a pragmatist to do, particularly as I'm ugly and not suited at all for television.

Yes, journalists are renowned for their natural beauty

I don't understand why journalism is so popular. The best journalists I worked with all just did bachelor of arts degrees. It's not like you can become an accredited journalist. Journalism students would get to do unpaid internships and then sent home. If they got a by line before they were done they were lucky. That said I left my job as jour no in 09, maybe it's changed.

But why would anyone want to be a journalist? They're the prostitutes of the writing world.

I'm doing the same degree. Hoping to do a masters when I finish because otherwise you're just a glorified pt.

Just had that conversation pretty much, not sure if I'll stick with it all the way through for that reason.

Honestly I love learning the stuff enough that I don't second guess sticking with it. It all comes down to you and what you want to do though.
