My Kayo crashed at some point during the second game so I switched to Channel Nein... A commentator hardly calling the game with Andrew Johns and Biller Slater occasionally talk about something random "How does Walsh train Billy?" and then Fittler chiming in when he was allowed. I thought we had it bad with Fox...

I want consistency in how these games are handled with rest of the games in round 1.
If sin bin is put away and less penalties better be the same as next week.
I notice no Kasey Badger doing the Vegas games
Of course it won’t be Stake. You , me and everyone else knows the refs were told we want the best spectacle possible because we’re trying to impress the Yanks.

They’ll be back to blowing the per out of their whistle and signalling 6 to go again in next weeks games.

Oh and Kasey Badger shouldn’t be refereeing Under 8 games let alone an NRL game. She has no feel for the game at all.

The worst one on Nein is Andrew Johns. He’s an absolute weirdo. Fittler is a close 2nd. Thank f**k he’s out of Origin.

Andrew John’s on that semi final game last year with the knights - one he will never forget. Seriously… the bloke couldn’t remember to tie his shoe laces currently.
Funny he didn’t get a run in Vegas.

I know mate.
I can't wait till they take a team over there who decides to play Flanno ball.
I have gut feel our mob will be there next year

Haha he didn’t want anyone to know who it was so made an alternate. That’s gold.

In the USA the first game had an average audience off 65k and 44k for the 2nd game.
Nowhere near the numbers they where banking on

Not surprised really.

Yanks are very patriotic and insular.

They follow their national sports and that’s enough for them. Everyrhing else is curiosity value.

What the NRL should be doing is ploughing money into junior league and country area development. I keep hearing we‘ll have 20 NRL teams one day. Where the f**k are these players coming from? We already have at least 3 basket case clubs in the NRL. We don’t need 3 more.

Could be looked at like this: Australia has a population of what, less than a tenth of the U.S and took a relatively unknown sport over there. Is it the equivalent of say, Sweden bringing a sport over here in the same way that's popular there but not here like European Handball. Ratings would be terrible like these games were.

Don’t get me wrong Cheese. The NRL tried something here which I applaud and they may get a little bit of traction over the 5 year period. But the Yanks aren’t suddenly going to embrace our game in meaningful numbers.

It probably has been more of a promotion of Rugby League here than in the US if you know what I mean. Lots of publicity through the media in the lead up and everyone in Australia knows the League season is underway. Rugby League has been front and centre of everything sport the past few weeks. It would’ve pissed off a lot of other sporting codes here no doubt.

There is a part of me that suspects PVL has always known ‘cracking the American market’ is highly highly unlikely, but knew that the worst case outcome is a bumper start to the season in Aus with lots of interest and column inches. Never has the been a season launch so anticipated - and given it’s actually cost less than they usually spend on a season launch, it can only be seen as a raging success. Then what it also does is give the NRL are free throw at the wickets in USA, it’s a Hail Mary, but essentially a free Hail Mary, that could pay off big time (however unlikely).

Nah I agree, its something different that you have to applaud them for doing. If not for spencer leniu it would have only received good press you'd think.
