Victorian Born Storm Players

It's the Storms ability to develop these kids that should be applauded. They obviously pour a lot of resources into their junior development and players like Folau and Inglis are proof of their success. They are the current top team and bagging them while they are the undisputed best is ordinary.

lol

they were good players before Melbourne saw them. throwing big bucks at the best juniors is not developmet. it's poaching

there should be something to stop this so clubs like Melbourne just can't waltz in with big money after other clubs have spent years developing them

yep, matty king was in reserve grade at the sharks before the storm got to him.

and billy slater, greg inglis and israel folou were all household names before the storm got them as well.

and good to see clubs like manly for example relying upon melbourne storm players for success.

its nice seeing a victorian team helping RL in sydney get stronger

Melbourne did not makes these players good. they were already good before the grubs got their hands on them

they will never have one junior in first grade. time has shown how they operate

they are no different than Union throwing big bucks at the best league players. Melbourne just start doing it at an earlier age

A Rugby League team signing a Rugby League player is the same as a Rugby Union team signing a player from a different sport?

The jealousy is astounding.

both are poaching

league players generally sign with Unin because of the big bucks

a lot of the gun kids sign with Melbourne for the same reason

They turned Matt King from a Sharks reserve grader to a Kangaroo and SOO player.

they were already good before the grubs got their hands on them.

They were identified as good amongst their peers.

i.e Inglis was good for a 16 year old. That doesn't mean he was going to carve up NRL players at that stage.

Under Melbournes tutelage, he did end up carving up NRL players, and made his way into SOO and Kangaroo representation.

Never is a long time.

If that's the worst you can call them, at least I still get to watch guys like Inglis and Falou play every week in the NRL, and not in the S14.

Inglis couldn't get any interest from Sydney teams as a kid.. they would all be kicking themselves for that now..

i'm not talking about the likes of Matt King. i'm talking about kids like the youngster from the Raiders, this kid http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/showthread.php?p=3611352#post3611352 and various others

better than even chance he would've though

Never is a long time.
not when you see the way they're operating atm

They were identified as good amongst their peers.

That's right.. good Jersey Flegg players. They aree still not good NRL players.

However Melbourne has a good track record of turning good Flegg players into great NRL players.

Slater
Inglis
Falou

Then we've seen internationals like Jake Webster turn into reserve grade fodder in a different setup.

No wonder kids are all tripping over themselves to go to melbourne and be turned into champion players.

better than even chance he would've though

Coulda.Woulda.Shoulda are all fantasy league material.

Didda counts.....and the Storming are didding very well.

not when you see the way they're operating atm

When will the next Luke Ricketson come from the Roosters then?

I find it hard to fathom that the Storm actively poached someone like Gareth Widdop from Halifax.

However they have provided a good developmental program for him in Melbourne.

That program is going to remain there for anyone else in Melbourne who comes along and is good enough.

no, kids are tripping over the $$$ Melbourne throw at them. other clubs can't compete as the're busy spening $ developing these players in the first place

i guarantee Melbourne will never have a junior. EVER

looking at all the good talent that has emerged from the storm, its a wonder other clubs have missed out on these players.

the storms recruitment and development policies are clearly a cut above other clubs.

thats why the roosters pinched their recruitment officer from them.

look at alex chan or david kidwell. both fairly average before going to melbourne, and after much better players. esp. kidwell

more likely they couldn't afford throwing the same money around as has been shown in the past with two Melbourne signings

lol

throing big bucks at the best kids is not a skill

It however has a lot to do with Melbourne making players better.

every club would have Matt King examples. it's not something new that rejects from other clubs have gone on to better and bigger things at others
