Inevitably the Shaun stuff comes back up.

Did we leak 48 points because of the defence of our No.7? Was that the issue last week? We sure are bizarre as fans. Unless the same guy we used to bemoan drifting in and out of games, not engaging the line etc would have conjured up 37 more points for us yesterday?

Shaun doesn't fix the last 2 game and he has been involved in losses like these at his time at the club.

The pathetic attitude in defence is a huge issue.
Only way I see it being fixed is making players accountable. I just don't see it happening.

Reading this thread for the first time and I am quite surprised at criticism of Blair. I know he is overpaid and can go missing sometimes, but he has been our best backrower this year. Harris is more concerning to me

I remember Jazz doing the hooking role pretty well when he first started out, was making a clearly unfit Luke look very ordinary.

Someone mentioned overambition earlier, he’s massively overplaying his strange ‘jack of all trades - average overall’ shtick.

Turning into another Leuluai.

And it’s not entirely Jazz’s fault. We obviously have moulded him into this weird makeshift middle forward pseudo prop position and he looks so busy that we have thought him to be effective and an indespensible part of the team. Dally M interchange of the year, no less....whatever that means. The fact is he is very dispensable and should be dispensed immediately. His spot would be better filled by Roache (obviously), Lawton or Cook. The fact that we had him and Beale on the bench yesterday is surreal.

Who said that the switching of centers sides (as dum f**k as it sounds) is something to be hopeful about? f**kin useless
I did for one thing.

On paper its s good idea.

The biggest concern for the club is that they played well in one game and have since gone backwards at a great rate of knots.

Saying the bulldogs were the reason for the false showing is only part of the issue, the Warriors since that game have played to stronger sides (Not much stronger) and had multiple systems failures, right across the park.

It would be easier for a coach to have struck out three times in a row and to relook at things from that mindset, than to see one game where systems are working and then for it all to go to bits.

From my couch it looks like swapping sides isn't the place to look to solve the major problems. Sure they'll fix a lot of issues with combinations, but does anyone honestly think the problem isn't deeper than player selection and placement?

I'n seeing a dressing room lost in those performances and a bunch of Warriors playing like sooks.

That's the real problem, the rest is window dressing.

Kata finally playing on his preferred side was stupid in that it took the Warriors 3 years (or however long that Katas been playing for us) to finally figure that out. Not that it made a difference because Katas SELECTION, is an ongoing enigma.

What, our 8th was a fluke?? It’s not like we were all that good last year. And we had an international half last year
We were consistent and many overlooked the obvious mediocrity across the park. I'm no Johnson fan but you don't jettison all your halves with no plan

Kearney is soo bad, always has been, I've been consistent that it takes more than one mediocre season to prove otherwise

The Smith bagging is interesting, obviously he's part of things but we really don't know who's doing what. Smith at least has shown repeatedly he is more than capable in the NRL as s coach and director

When the players do the same shit (e.g. Katas predictable going from dummy half last week) it makes you wonder about the coaching. Cos Katas been doing that for years and continues to get picked.

No.

The bigger loss is Simon Mannering.

However Shaun was not the problem. Not by a long shot. And if Adam Keighran is the answer I would hate to think what the question is. Blake Green is slow, he was slow last year but that was okay because he could play off Johnson’s speed and vice versa. We had 10 minutes at their line and we wouldn’t have bruised a plum with our attack.

Fusitu’a as well on that play. He is fair dinkum jogging along at half clip. And then slows down further.

Has always been Fus’s Achilles hell I reckon. Always had the talent and when he’s on he’s one of the best finishers in the business but when things aren’t going his way he just seems to get disinterested. He’s kinda the opposite to Ken in that respect who has a far more limited skill set but generally gets by on hard work and raw size/enthusiasm. Still both are quality players when the rest of the team is working well and not really the cause of our problems, although symptomatic of the wider attitude issue at times.

If this season continues to turn to shit, the the ABs win a third World Cup and an NZ franchise wins the super rugby, I really fear for the future of both the club and code in NZ. I think we’re already seeing signs of a steadily decreasing talent pool coming into the club as the code with its shoddily run grass roots and no support from schools etc struggles to compete with the juggernaut that is NZ rugby union.

Yes and that’s natural. I am a big Mannering fan, but 2018 Mannering wasn’t Simon Mannering. We miss him, but with a backrow involving Adam Blair and Tohu Harris, we should be ok. We are playing Ayshford, Pulu and Sao in reserve grade ffs

I wonder how much influence Simon was still having on the team last year though. He’s the kind of guy that even when his own body was starting to let him down would’ve been inspiring the others to dig in. I reckon we’re missing that.
