I've had a stressful 6 months at work. Finally get a break, spending 4 days chilling at Point Lookout North Straddie...Weight of the world off my shoulders. Get home in time to watch the Warriors.... Why oh why LOL.
Oh well back to work tomorrow.

Work...yes:lol: Who else is looking forward to the standard Monday morning walk through work: "What happened to your Warriors??!!!!";-)

Has anyone else noticed that Mannering, like clockwork, throws a wild pass or offload behind him that's scuped up by the opposition, leading to breakaway try or near-try in the first half of every single game?

No doubt he's been one of our better players since the comeback but he's too good to be doing that stuff all the time.

Not that this is anywhere near our biggest problem at the moment, but it doesn't seem to be talked about at all.

Yep been noticing this, he tries to do it in traffic, part of me thinks its part of a planned move (like how Rusty does his back to the line for the wrap-around play) and Simon tries to force it when its not gonna pull off.

He's also good for a silly penalty a game, even out-Lowrie'ing Lowrie lately.

PS: Manu know's how to take it to the opposition when we need it. That charge that smacked over Kingston really got us going for that last attempt.

Also i'd like to see Peyroux develep some power. He was hitting the line at really good pace yesterday but didn't really make the go-forward at the tackle as I was expecting from someone that big hitting it that quick???

That about summed up our season for mine.

A glimmer of hope, followed by unprofessionalism, brain explosions, the odd tough call from the referees (though it certainly evened out in this particular game) and bloody Penrith!!

Bye bye finals

Playing Matulino off the bench in limited minutes every week is f**king braindead. He's our best prop and should be playing 60+ mins...

Good to see us reverting back to the good old wingers coming in off their wing inexplicably defensive technique.

Sad day for the club.

Just when the two teams should be lifting for the finals both fall flat.

At home.

To Penrith.

sad.

Reinforces what Neilson brings to the party.

wow- he's so good, when he goes off, wingers on both sides start inexplicably come in off their wing?

No, I get what you're saying, I think. Nielsen's communication with Manu is better than Peyroux's, and that helps Manu out. But geez, you wouldn't think Manu would go full genius without Nielsen holding his hand out there.

In any event, my main beef with Nielsen is what he doesn't offer on attack.

Yep its strange but Manu loses the plot completely without a good defensive centre with him. Neilson offers nothing on attack but I can absolutely live with that if it means we aren't cannon fodder on our wings.

And that was only Penrith, the top four sides would carve up our edges like a thanksgiving turkey.

You wanted him dropped though right? I can't understand this when the other 3 outside backs we have are extremely dodgy on defense but can be great attacking players. What Nielsen brings was shown actually in the tackle he got injured, a good one on one tackle on Whare which shut down their spread to the right, Manu stayed on his wing and trusted/listened to Nielson.

He goes off, and then on a couple of occasions Whare got on the outside of Perouyx and Vatuvei comes in off his wing. And this is ciming from a guy who wasn't a huge fan of the signing in the first place.

I think it's bad that I feel more confident that we are more dangerous from 40-50 out than in the opposition 20. So often our sets are a complete mess in their 20. 3 settlers, 2 bad attempt at 2nd man plays and a bad kick/Johnson getting caught with it on the last. Another point is how poorly the 2nd man plays involving Leuluai were executed yesterday, and it wasn't al his fault. The Panthers outside edge were pushing up and in on Leuluai and for some reason Johnson/Mateo etc were delaying the ball to him on those 2nd man plays so Leuluai only really had the option to step back inside because he had no room to work with or continue the spread. The ball should have been given much earlier and their would have been room for Hurrell to work with.

Ya you got what you asked for. No Nielsen. Peyroux got ran aroud for both of Simmons tries, couldn't shut it down.

With attacking weapons like Johnson, Leuluai, Mateo, Hurrell, Laumape, Manu why do you really need Neilsen to be such an attacking player anyway?

Exciting game on the weekend fellas unlucky for you guys. How bout that pass for our first try, refs must of thought they were playing grid iron lol. Losing Neilson obviously hurt you guys, Whare was having a field day with the guy that replaced him.

So a couple of weeks after having to defend Nielsen to one or two who can't grasp the value of a centre who isn't completely rubbish on D, it becomes even more obvious. Manu clearly didn't trust Peyroux inside him, hence why he kept coming in. It really is as simple as that.

Just as an aside; I can't wait to see a Whare/Goodwin centre combo for the world cup.

Want a Warriors fans perspective on 1 piece of play

Walsh goes for the 40/20, Johnson gets back there, and then proceeds to jog around in goal with the chasers coming, only just makes it back into the field of play and fires a ball across to Locke

If looked lazy and symbolic of the effort being put in out there today, and if it was my team doing it I would be blowing up. Thoughts ?

These type of efforts from Johnson concern me in a world cup environment

I take the opposite view it seems. Johnson busted a hump to get back there. If he had have been sprinting onto it when he gathered it he had a fair chance of going out. He had to slow down his momentum to get back and around. I've yet to see another halfback do what he did there, chase down a 40/20 and save his team. I thought Johnson was defensively good yesterday, and his kicking game was a mile better than usual. Its getting scarey when Johnson seems to be the best fringe defender on that side of the field.

Perhaps he could re-teach Vatuvei on how to defend.

Has there been any news on the sacking of that touch judge? Bet not. Australian press wants nothing to do with criticising referees for their repeated backside gaping of the Warriors. The week before against Manly was an abomination in the penalty count, both in NYC and first grade. This week, Mr Magoo misses a 6 metre forward pass right in front of him. Disgraceful. THat was a massive call. From there apparently Penrith had something like 17 out of the remaining 20 sets in the half. Isaac John should see if the 49ers are still looking for a Joe Montana replacement frankly.

Also, that little sweaty merkin Jason 'spray on sweat' Robinson can go and end himself. What the hell was that toss doing running the support line? What a disgraceful piece of refereeing. That rule BTW is a horror show. It should be play the ball to the team who had control of possession. I bet, again, Daniel Anderson does nothing about either of those deplorable plays from the referees. Touchie magoo will get a Sunday arvo game on 9, and Robinson will get a grand final. That was absolute laziness from Robinson to be where he was.
