You wanted him dropped though right? I can't understand this when the other 3 outside backs we have are extremely dodgy on defense but can be great attacking players. What Nielsen brings was shown actually in the tackle he got injured, a good one on one tackle on Whare which shut down their spread to the right, Manu stayed on his wing and trusted/listened to Nielson.

Yeah, I definitely flirted with and floated the idea of leaving out Nielsen and bringing in Peyroux. That (forced) substitution did not work for us on the weekend, that's for sure. I'm still not totally convinced that Nielsen makes all of the difference on that edge, but it was a convincing display of ineptitude all round on that edge once he went off.

I suspect there is some major communication issues in our defence, people acting as individuals.
