Brown remember week after back in 2000 when his team had 70 against them, he remembered clearly, he kicked ball out on full when leading tigers and lost.
Watched the press conference and got a laugh out of that.

Will say as a Knights fan - Brown always came off saying the right things in press conferences but the never had the results to back him up.

Tough game tonight but I think you'll bounce back next week.

Cooper Cronk calling out Lodge showing sudden effort when they're 60 points down instead of earlier when the Warriors needed a spark.

Also called out SJ for his lack of game management, no drills into touch for e.g. to slow the game down and reset the line.
SJ has been hopeless this year. I dunno how he's got any points in the 3-2-1s. For what he should be after 200 games and 11 seasons, he's just absolutely nowhere near it.

What was he doing for Papi's penalty attempt on halftime? He starts trying to raise the crowd noise, then he makes a point of a beeline over to Papi to congratulate him for kicking it. I know it's pretty insignificant but I just don't see a hardened professional in SJ. And f**k knows we need them at our club.

I'm afraid there's something desperately wrong with our club, and it might be hidden even further this year in the fact our team isn't THAT bad (amazing to say that after a 70-10 loss).

There's just f**k all toughness in our side. f**k all strong leaders. And I include our management team in that too. Starts at the CEO, he's been here almost 5 years and can anyone point to any particular upside to what he's provided?

SJ was poor, but Cronk is on some good stuff there, not sure how he could have been kicking it into touch when they couldn’t get past tackle 3 for half an hour !

I hate ANZAC v Melbourne as a fixture. Generally, we aren't up to the symbolism of ANZAC.

I was at the 2014 game, it was epic. I know that's a lifetime ago, but it's a great fixture to be a part of if we could ever get our shit together. A lot of clubs don't have that sort of significant fixture to be a part of it. As you say though, we hardly deserve it nowadays

I get that man. But for every 2014, we're getting raped 3 times.

20-42 last year
6-50 2020 (albeit, not an ANZAC due to COVID)
12-13 2019
10-50 2018
14-20 2017
0-42 2016

No no, I completely agree. I'd just hate us to lose it, because in 2050 or whenever we intend on being competitive, it's such an incredible fixture to be a part of. The AFL ANZAC Day fixture is going on over the road, people are all over the place, it's epic.

For a long time on this forum he was made out to be some sort of messiah, I was confused by it then, and the results over this time has backed my opinion.

He's a dud, and this version of the Warriors is dud. Next year either become a club that helps promote, develop and support NZ league or stay in Oz and become the Redcliffe Central Coast team.

Was he? I always thought Jim Doyle was not a messiah, but about as good as we'd get. I can't remember what was thought of Cameron George. He seems like a bunch of hot air. At least Doyle had history in the game - George is a horse racing guy. Him and our owner have no idea how to run an NRL club.

Anyway, more importantly, how do we promote, develop and support NZ league? Honest question. How do we repair the parlous state of the game in this country?

And our new chairman has zero league knowledge.
So all our management have zero NRL knowledge.
But Mohawk hires SJ on what SJ says he will bring to the club.
And we let POS and Gus go.

Maybe just do it without the Warriors actually playing lol

This is the key to the whole thing for me. There needs to be a long term view. Like how the Chinese do things.

Yeah, we should get better players and a better coach. But what needs to happen alongside is a holistic nourishment of the code in NZ.

There’s a laundry list of things that could be done and it all comes down to money. But we know there’s money out there. Strengthening the club and school competitions would be my priority.

Add to that the NRL has a problem with making all the clubs competetive.
If the top five clubs are always going to win the crowd are not going to grow.
There needs to be a system to even the playing strength of the weaker teams. Such as a draft system.

They did the right thing getting Gould involved... but for a range of reasons amounted to f**k all...

It's just all a bit stink tbh, he's not the problem (and certainly not the solution) but we should never have brought Johnson back, and why Nikorima is there I dunno, and Brown, well at least he's not Kearney... I have no idea where to go now - someone like Madge or Seibold to blow the joint up?

I was fine with an older, wiser Johnson coming back with neat touches, smart kicks and game control... steering CHT and Walsh into an effective spine which is something Nikorima couldn't do.

It even looked like in recent weeks we might have got that, but boy yesterday was classic SJ with the flashy million dollar plays and periods of complete anonymity. Is he carrying a niggle? Makes it even more problematic if he's only on half power and is our leading half.

He's definitely carrying a niggle. He avoided kicking almost the whole game. Didn't you notice how Walsh and CHT took almost all the 5th tackle plays. SJ barely even kicked touch-finders. I'm giving him some leniency on this game as I think he has shown signs of good game control with kicking in other games when he's at full health.
