reminds me of the 90 year old in hospital they keep trying to resuscitate. Just let them die a peaceful death lol.

Clubs which draw audience in Brisbane which means they get two biggest league markets watching. Maybe Perth can be quasi qld team?!

Wow, real strong recommendation Perth, nz or anywhere in pacific.

Nine & fox jumped at brisbane2 but nothing for Perth..
And yet they paid nothing extra for brisbane2. that’s how valuable they considered another heartland club! The value is in the ninth tv slot much more than the location of the club for tv.

To be fair the Crushers were already bankrupt lol.
All four expansion clubs were f**ked before the 1995 season started. The blame isn't on the clubs, but the ludicrous way Arthurson and Quayle went about expansion. I don't think those two had any idea how to run the league and it created the perfect situation for a rebel competition to enter the market.

Fox is funding dolphins 75 million each year. Nine didn't get any extra Brisbane content. Neither wanted Perth.

People are wrong.

He's not a troll, nor is he aberrant of the average RL fan's opinions on expansion. Don't allow our small, almost echo chamber (you could call it a leaky echo chamber), to trick you into believing that.

Take a look at this video. It's long, but you don't need to watch all of it, just enough to get the gist-

That discussion is a good reflection of the average RL fan's general opinions on expansion, which Pip is more or less in line with. It's informed totally by gut feeling with no effort put into researching the merits of each market, but it is the general standard of opinion.
Just watched some of it, twas painful to listen to lol.

Funny we knew redcliffe's backers. Probably true for every successful bid over time
What we knew the Redcliffe leagues club was backing the Redcliffe dolphins bid? Go figure lol.

Nah in the Crushers case they were totally unprepared for what they were attempting and never should have been given a license in the first place.

It is however reasonable to blame Arko and Quayle for that, because not only were they the ones handing out the licenses, but I think it's fair to say that they were only so gung-ho about a the second Brisbane team as a veiled threat and reprimand to the Broncos, which is no way to run a business.

But this is a tangent.

With the exception of the odd dissenter that's the average standard of discussion around expansion in every pub, stadium, and social media platform around "the heartlands", and given that it's not surprising that Pippen, and others like him, are thinking the way they do. In other words he's no troll.

But more importantly you have to understand that broadly speaking "our" way of thinking is the aberration, not the other way around.

Why do you think my name is Get Rid of the Donkeys?

They've caused more trouble than good for rugby league in SEQ.
Yeh I know what the username means

yet you staunchly defend the competition they created which caused that damage. That’s the bit that confuses me

if the broncos weren’t so greedy and arrogant Perth and Gold Coast would never have been killed off. Bears would be around on central coast

and two Sydney clubs would probably have died namely Cronulla and wests

league would be far better today if this had happened
