If the Sharks count the tag teams etc, like other areas have done, and they are way over 6k, maybe 7k now. Either way, second most participants in NSW after the Pennies.
Move em to Perth!!!
They’ve moved well ahead of parramatta and other comps that have only just worked out offering non contact tag increases team numbers and a family environment. Sharks are arguably the most progressive club in Sydney in terms of diverse participation.

Having weight instead of Age groups too will see it grow more too
I have my apprehensions about weight groups; just because a kid is big doesn`t mean he`s tough enough to play against some of the kids that will be in those groups. Could be like a sitting duck.
Having said that anything that gets and keeps more smaller body types into the game will be brilliant. We only have to see the dearth of quality half-backs in the NRL (and the corresponding madness in bidding over the few top-quality ones we have) to know we aren`t getting enough coming through.

I'm intrigued to know exactly how much of this is Manly being insular, and how much of it is Norths (with respect to the North Shore) & the Roosters (with respect to the Central Coast) blocking Manly from spreading their reach outside their traditional area.

There's oy enough room for one club on from Bondi to Gosford. The NSWRL and ARLC need to sort it out or the game will remain stagnant.

This should have happened when mergers were happening back in late 90s...
Nah, if a merge had to happen it would have been best if it was South's and Cronulla. La Perouse to Kurnell by land, take out St. George. The whole Bayside area.
It would prove correct now as the majority of supporters from Kyeemah to Sans Souci go for either the Rabbits or the Sharks. The Roosters are next then the Dragons. I live in this area, I see it every day.
Edit: we could have had this song as our team song. Made famous lately by Tarantino in the Hateful 8. Jim Jones at Botany Bay

You'll hate me but cronulla should never have been admitted. Gong was in running but I think crl opposed it. Sharks where just brought in to weaken st George who were still on their great run
