We currently have in the nrl

Canberra Newcastle and titans which struggle to attract good players

Melbourne and roosters relying upon others juniors

and we want to add Perth ?

crazy
We also have wests, dragons and Cronulla with massive jnr areas and have failed miserably to have any consistent success. It’s almost like the two aren’t related lol

Agreed. Regional teams are only successful when they are clever - invest in juniors and buy fringe players looking for opportunities or scout different locations for players rather than try to lure the top end players and paying overs for them

My point was that there was time when the Knights didn’t even have the money to properly do that. They also made some poor decisions around that time which set them back.
They produced the greatest league player ever

pretty sure Clive Churchill is from merewwether too

replacing Joey is like the curse of the bambino for them

We dont need a half arsed relocated club that people in perth mock, we just need jnr pathway partnerships with heartland second tier club/s. Worked for Storm, no reason it can’t work for perth.
And around and round we go.... it didn't work for the storm, THEY TOOK ALL YOUR BEST, as the competition went on without your city, once that team had retired over the next handful of seasons, then they partnered up... you cannot win a bid with nothing, News and the ARL were always planning to go to Melbourne, there wasn't a tender for bids...
Youve got this all backwards

Dolphins just signed an entire first team and a reserve grade side from other clubs, it’s what any new club has to do.

Wheres perths junior club? Redcliffe have one, wheres perths to promote from
We have 26 grassroots clubs in WA, what we lack currently is the money and direct pathway system to take the best kids from those 26 clubs and turn them into nrl players. That comes with an nrl license. At the moment et our best 16 year old kids are either having to move east, join the force or stay at amateur level.

but yes if the arlc actually had a long term strategy the funding and support would already be in place for the nrlwa to have the systems and sides needed to graduate into an nrl club.

by your argument you are literally saying the nrl cant expand beyond nsw and qlnd as that’s the only place Where these systems currently exist, unless one of those second tier clubs is happy to move to another city?

Its not about systems, its about WA looking for handouts instead of building up what ever team that already exists in Perth strong enough to bid... why does the NRL need to give WA a handout, you're the ones trying to bid, without anything to offer

It’s not an anamoly

for 20 years clubs like the roosters and storm dominated

both set terrible examples for the other clubs to follow

the roosters bought their way to comps

the storm wrestled their way to comps

the whole comp was just a poor version of these two clubs

then along came Penrith and changed the ballgame

local kids from the area who played their juniors together (rip roosters)

a team which adapted the best to six again with little wrestling and actual old fashioned rugby league

it’s scary we could be watching the modern day st George

every club now will be investing in juniors and playing eyes up rugby league … and that’s a good thing

Penrith are EXACTLY what a rugby league club looks like

at the other end of the spectrum is Melbourne as will a Perth nrl team will be
Yeah, I'd hate Perth to be as successful as Melbourne...

Are you asking why a governing body shouldn't fund its sport in any particular state?

It probably is at its minimum effort or requirement, why isn't there the equivalent of east tigers or redcliffe dolphins sitting there in Perth ready to bid, does every club need a fkn handout over there to run as a business

are you suggesting there should be a semi-professional club in Perth, playing in what comp exactly?

It’s not about handouts, it’s about strategic business growth. Like literally no one does what the nrl does, and what you’re advocating, when it comes to growing new franchises/ new parts of a business. Hmmmmm

you need to go and take a look at what the arlc constitution and mission says. It’s says to grow the game.

ALF dominates, be realistic, i know your not a fan, but be a bit less bias, the Storm are a succes for what RL can achieve in Victoria
None of the storm greats even stay in Melbourne when they retire

It’s like a prison sentence lmao

Hate to say it, but pokies! Take out the decades of pokie fundings these clubs have had and how big do you think they would be?

also it’s just about the dumbest thing I’ve heard to suggest that promoting an nrlwa club would be a good idea, even if they were loaded and performing well. We need a club that represents the whole state, not north beach or south perth or Joondalup lol we have 26 clubs athta could feed up to a representative nrl club.

Theyd be the only team there... of course they represent the state, you think the warriors are only Auckland from inception? But pokies are bad Red
