Anyone not from St Helens in UK hates St Helens. Why would they support a club called St's in Australia? Last year I thought I might have to move to Wollongong and was dreading the fact a team called St's would be my local club lol!

Back to St Helens, that team that just beat the cream of the NRL are on $4.5million. You could sign the top ten players from that St's squad and still have $7mill plus in the cap to add some marquee and secondary players around them!

How come St George has never tried to market itself to the English?

Having the name "St George" makes it the perfect candidate to represent the country that has the Cross of St George on its flag.

St George Lions would be a great rebrand for the club.
Racist comments again? Why not the Asians, lotsa Asians live in kogarah, Asians love dragons... i almost had beer come out of my nose when i read this potato counting racist qlr from bumf**k logan spew that nonsense

It would def be one of my strategies! Closest to fly home to see family, time difference easier for ringing family, awesome place to live the beach lifestyle, full of english already. Nrl should give a perth team an extra $1-2mill a year cap dispensation to sign players from union or England for first ten years whilst we are building the WA systems.
NRL should give perth handouts... geez where have i heard that before

Not a handout, a dispensation that means the nrl get the best outcome possible for their $18mill a year investment Without doing what the dolphins have just done and raping and pillaging other nrl clubs rosters.

Seriously, grow a team.. then bid, otherwise beggars be choosing, one wants a logan team, thr other a perf one, none of them actually have a 2nd or 3rd or even 4th grade presence
You mean like warriors, cowboys, knights, raiders, Storm, sharks etc etc all did befor joining the comp? There is no money in the second grade, unless you’ve got a pokie den no one is building a club there. What you’re asking for is totally unrealistic. But keep on that broken record by all means.

besides dolphins were this second grade set up you have asked for, and still went out and signed 32 players from other clubs. Doh.

He's setting unrealistic standards for a Perth team that are unachievable. By setting up unattainable standards he can then say Perth isn't worthy of a team when they don't meet his warped criteria.

The idiot wants a team from Papua New Guinea to be based in Cairns. He's braindead and doesn't have a clue.

Canberra had their own comp, knights had their own comp, sharks had their own comp, warriors probably had a nz comp, cows had qrl sides in the area, all competitive, before getting a license.
storm was the only exception, and they got gifted perth, hunter etc squads, your presumption that WA has a competitive comp is overreach, your not offering anything that the NRL are looking for besides the city itself, of which they'll want only if they had the juniors to boost the player pool...

WA has its own comp.
Let’s wait and see shall we what exactly the nrl want.
there is no second grade side in heartlands that isn’t either funded by pokies or by an nrl club.
Yet you think magically nz, perth or Adelaide should have one?
dolphins had a strong one, went out and signed 32 players from other clubs lol
Hmmmm reality not a strong point tonight muga

Circle jerking again, redcliffe have competitive juniors, the other NRL clubs want... you're bringing up a moot point, of course Perth would hypothetically sign established 1st graders, but they aint giving anything back... you seem to think that doesn't matter, it does for the clubs that would vote on whether to bother with WA... again rose colored pirate patch strikes again

WA is already supplying Jnrs to NRL clubs.
there is no hypothetical about it, ANY new club coming into the NRL is signing an entire first grade squad from existing rosters. Dolphins have just yet again proved that. One way to lesson that impact is to give a new club cap dispensation to sign from SL and Union. Should have happened for dolphins and should def happen for a set up in a non heartland city.

And you ignored the entire argument you are making, how can Perth, Wellington or Adelaide run a NSW cup side when A) all the best jnrs that are being developed in those areas head to already established NRL or local Union pathways and B) without pokies or an NRL club financing it its impossible to fund. Hence why there isnt a club in NSW cup or Qlnd cup that doesn't have one, or both, of those two funding sources.

i know you hate Sydney clubs but the Rabbitoh and Dragon would be the 2 most famous nicknames in Rugby League and two of the most famous in Australian sport. Imagine telling The New York Yankees to rename to New York Knights or something.

Their name is somewhat famous in Sydney, but it hasn't translated into them becoming a financially viable club with a large active fanbase. In the 90s they were forced into merging with Illawarra due to financial problems. The merged entity draws some of the lowest attendances in the competition.

Didn't they have financial problems a few years ago?

Valleys were popular in Brisbane but they still went bust.

Dragons and Valleys struggled for relevance in an overcrowded market with changing demographics. Fortitude Valley is home to Brisbane's China Town and St George has a large Chinese community. Neither club went out of its way to market themselves to the Chinese communities in their regions.

The English are far more likely than the Chinese to embrace a St George Lions team that is a quasi-English team.

They could remain the St George Dragons, but wouldn’t that turn off patriotic Brits who revere St George for slaying the dragon?

Broncos and Storm would have a larger profile around the country than the Rabbitohs and Dragons.
