Cowboys linked their contracted players with Cutters and Pride this year. The Blackhawks were for promising development players.

Melbourne didn't create the Falcons. The Falcons are the representative team for Sunshine Coast and have been around for decades.
But only joined the Qld Cup when the Storm linked with them

They were in the Queensland Cup in the mid-90s and returned in 09 under the name Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles. They reverted back to the Sunshine Coast Falcons brand in 2014. Melbourne Storm didn't join up with them until a few years' ago.

NQ use 3 sides.

The advantage is sides like Central QLD will have more spots to give more guys game time.
In a Regional team that is huge for local players
And there will be more spots when the NRL contracted players play in a National RG

Only played one year in 1996, doesnt really count as it took the Storm to help their return 20 years later

Mate, get a clue. They returned 13 years later under the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles brand due to an affiliation with Manly. That lasted two years until NSWRL threw a tantrum about dual registration. They languished at the bottom of the ladder and reverted to the Falcons brand in 2014, but still struggled until they set up an affiliation with Melbourne.

Exactly. It was the same time as the NSWRL throwing a tanty about the Raiders having an affiliation with Souths Logan as well. Worked well for us at the time.

The NSWRL and ARLC have been slowly killing the Queensland Cup for the last decade. They were jealous because Sydney NRL clubs turned to the Queensland Cup for feeder arrangements due to it producing more NRL players during the 00s.

Watching the Bears October update on Youtube. Chairmen makes a point a number of times about a location not being set. Makes me think they are negotiating with a number of options, he did mention Christchurch as a potential a while ago.
Awesome

great to hear about Christchurch hope the arlc gives it to them and snubs Perth

There's a fine tradition of interstate expansion clubs doing well from feeder deals or recruitment from a Brisbane club side - eg the Magpies (BRL) -> Raiders signings in the mid 1980s, and the Norths (Qld Cup) -> Storm connection in the 2000s.
St George were strong in the early 2000s with players like Coyne.

So with the news that the Roosters are pulling out of the reserve grade relationship where does that now leave the Bears? Seems they will be even more desperate not to see the brand disappear into obscurity. Maybe it will soften their stance on the "non negotiables"?
On the flip side for a WA club it probably makes them less appealing if the NRL is moving to a full reserve grade comp in the future. Will ultimately mean they would just be good for jnr teams.

Just the usual Sydney myopia in all likelihood. They’ve only just engaged a consultancy firm to speak with potential bidders so I doubt they’ve already concluded that exercise, produced the report and the govt finalised any decision. It would be the fastest govt project in history lol

The old North Sydney Bears have found support from West Indies cricket legends who are backing their joint bid with the Western Australian government to become the NRL’s 18th team.

When did this happen? Or just media dribbling?
lol i didn't read the article but why would west indies cricketers even care about a Perth NRL team or the f**king bears for that matter ?

The Bears would be crowing about it if it had happened.

In other words it's BS, just like all of Buzz's "journalism".
