WA BEARS

How does forcing a bid to pay a $20m licence fee help a team survive on its own. You are placing any bid at a bigger risk of failure.

A bank guarantee that they will eventually get back does that. Forcing them to pay a fee that will likely take them a decade to see a return on does not.
By god you are a sanctimonious boring old turd. Back to four corners where you can wank off with your boring mates. Off you go.

And some people just defend the NRL no matter what they do and make pretty stupid posts defending the indefensible.

If what you're saying is the reason for the licence fee, why didn't the Dolphins need to pay one? Why do Perth need $30m plus the $20m? Why do they need to pay a fee to prove they can survive on their own (which is what you said in the previous post), if you are now saying they couldn't survive on that fee?
The thread was better when you just pissed off and left it alone you turgid turd.

Again .. which never actually happened …i keep telling you this and have for 20 years

they joined Super League before they actually played in the competition …. Were they still paying the travel costs on behalf of Super League ?
Western Reds kicked off in Round 1 on 12th March 1995. SuperLeague started their raids in the middle of the night on 1st April.

More questions that have already been addressed multiple times.
The NRL in the end is a business. Businesses change structure and evolve constantly, that's how they grow.
The timing and placing of the Dolphins is different to now and has absolutely nothing to do with this bid.
The owners can ask whatever they deem right for someone to buy into the company.
One year it might be $10k, the next year they may value it at $70k, after that $120k etc. It could even drop in price.
The NRL obviously didn't like the $0 value that the Cumins bid gave, and treated it as such.
Again, a stupid decision by the bid.

Now please stop trying to hop onto the party train that was 40 pages ago. It's all been said, you were late to it.
If you can't see that the bid has done damage to itself then that's for you to work out to as the why. Some can see it very easily.

So in other words, you and the NRL are making it up as you go along. Notice how none of the bids have agreed to pay the $20m? Because it's a horrible business decision. The Perth bid was stupid putting $0, but this has blown up in Vlandys face as well.

No smart business person is ever going to pay a $20m fee knowing that it can just be waived for someone else whenever the NRL feels like it.

You think News Ltd just woke up and said one day ….”let’s start Super League?”

they didn’t “start the raid” that day …that’s when it was made public on April 1st 1995

Some teams had already been in talks with News Ltd and had agreed to join them ..this included the Reds …and they had been dealing with News Ltd months prior to that…long before they had ever kicked a ball on the field and presumably long before they were supposed to have gone broke paying airfares

Im going to give you a hint on how to discuss a topic without coming across as immature and lowbrow.
Never try and build your stance by trying to create a narrative by using "So in your words". They aren't my words, they are yours.
You automatically lose credibility right there, but then go onto say:

No smart business person is ever going to pay a $20m fee knowing that it can just be waived for someone else whenever the NRL feels like it.
When it is well known that the PNG bid has in fact agreed to pay $60M. Don't now come in and blah, blah about the Aust Govt, this isn't about them.
The facts are that a bid most certainly did come to the party, and neither you or I know what other bids have been referred to paying, so why bring up another non-entity?
Again it makes you look immature and lowbrow.

No smart business person is ever going to pay a $20m fee knowing that it can just be waived for someone else whenever the NRL feels like it.
There again, you have no idea what the price tag is for other bids, in fact the only one you know of is PNG paying $60M.
The NRL doesn't put a fee on "feel", what kind of business practice does that?
Again, your words trying to create a narrative that really doesn't exist, all just to try and move the conversation into an "argument" for the sake of it.
Might be time for you to get out of the teenage/social media way of posting and start to think before you write.

I think it was amatuerish all-round. Firstly by the NRL to put in the bid document 'nominate a fee that you want to pay' or words to that effect if that was the case. And secondly by the bid team not to have discussed it with the NRL of what sort of fee they are looking at, or if they did discuss it and were given a ballpark figure and still put in $0. And doubly amatuerish by the bid team if they told the NRL they will not pay a fee and the NRL told them that your bid will then be knocked back.

Easier for the PNG bid to pay a fee when the money is not coming from your own pocket as you have been gifted hundreds of millions by the taxpayers of another country.

I’m not even sure why people keep bringing the Dolphins up, they weren’t a gamble, they were an established brand, they have equity, resources and history.
The Western Bears were starting from scratch in a AFL dominated State, Peter Cumins didn’t want the Bears involved, no seat on the board etc which meant no money from the Bears and their backers.
I understand what people are saying with putting all these obstacles in front of a new entity being ridiculous, it is what it is, have the Bears dodged a bullet with this happening ?, should Peter Cumins just stay in his comfort zone and stick to sponsoring rugby league ?, after seeing the proposed logos lol, seriously in this day and age of ai, Cumins and his consortium can only come up with that goofy looking rejected Full Boar Bear logo and Trump Bear, ffs really ?.
Hopefully Peter V’Landys, Roger Cook, Daniel Dickson and John Sackson can weave their magic and make the WA Bears happen.
Bears fan Paul Chippendale owns the rights to multiple WA/Bears names Perth Bears etc after a night on the piss.
I was talking to Paul just before the GF against Newtown at Sterlos Bar, he never mentioned anything, sly dog.
Wonder if he made any $$$ when he handed the Western Bears name over to Peter Cumins and his consortium ?.
The Bears had to drop virtually all of their non negotiables, now it is Peter Cumins’ turn to return to the negotiating table with his tail between his legs.
Anyway the next few weeks should be interesting.

I honestly think there are a few people here who want to argue for the sake of it, just as it’s always been here, some want real discussion, and even with different opinions can discuss without asking pretty stupid questions.
Anyone who doesn't agree with me, is a troll.

What a mature position to take

stop believing social media, there has never been any public statement made by anyone on your first point.

You have zero idea of what investor is putting in what.

Th govt has always said they are agnostic and will support a WA NRL club. But there has to be one for them to support. Without the Western Bears bid there isnt one, the only option is NRL starting one up, and then it costing them $50mill instead of just accepting not getting $20mill. Great bit of business that lol
Owning an NRL franchise in WA would be worth 100 million. All the revenue goes straight to hq. It's probably worth much more actually. 50 million set up costs for a 100 million dollar business.
WA offered zero.....zero for the opportunity to own an operate a 100 million dollar business.
