WA BEARS

If by 'changing the colours', he means adding gold, then let him walk. In my opinion, adding gold is a must. As much as having red and black should be prominent for a NRL Bears team given NthSyd are feeding into this WA team, I feel they have to have a point of difference from the 1908-1999 NRL Bears team. Logo, likewise, can and possibly should be based (even if it's only loosely based) on a NthSyd Bears logo, but should be its own brand from day 1.

Again, this isn't the North Sydney Bears relocating and re-entering the NRL. This is (or bloody-well should be) a brand new WA-based franchise with ties to NthSyd. I completely understand the long-time NthSyd Bears supporters dearly wanting to see their team back in the big-time, and I understand their passion for wanting this to be 'their' North Sydney Bears that is allowing WA to share their team, but all the talk coming from those in the know at all levels of involvement is that this is WA's team that will take on the Bears' colours, mascot, and hopefully their supporters.

I hope everyone remembers this, not just now, but after the announcement, after they kickoff Round 1 2027(?), but also 10, 15, 30 years, ect, into the future.
Any talk of disharmony or ill-feelings from either side of the Nullabor at any stage, and we could potentially have Wests Tigers version 2.0, and nobody wants that.
Pretty sure I shared with you the original logo which caused concerns. The gorilla looking abomination.

That’s what Jim was referring to. By the time the WB IP lodged logos were a thing, Jim was already gone.

Re: your post here. There’s no need for concern. This NRL owned franchise/club which is located in WA and has Bears branding will be fine. The relevant and potential stakeholders are rowing in the same direction and everything between them has been communicated with a high level of transparency. All are extremely excited with the opportunity that presents itself.

People who take issue with certain elements (and yet don’t know the full scope of things) will always have something that they are unhappy with and will ensure the goalposts of their issues are constantly moved. Nothing can fix that.

One thing the last 40 years has taught me about Rugby League is that people change their minds, have their own agendas and act in their own interests ….

Like I said earlier … get the contract legalities and financial penalties in place now that ties this club to Perth for the next 50 years …

I’ve been pretty consistent in what I’ve posted here in the last eight months and one of those things that has remained consistent is that this club will be a W.A. club.

All this other stuff that’s been floating around here is complete nonsensical rubbish tbh.

Once the NRL have a team in Perth they'll always have a team there. They won't be pulling out.

A certain caller we'll call Andrew A... no that's too obvious. Let's say A Abdo.

I was thinking a couple of weeks ago that the Double Header would be the perfect time to announce the team. Announce it in the 30 minutes between the games. Broadcast it live on Fox. Perfect time for it to be Breaking News on all of the East Coast evening news stations. Plenty of time for Perth evening news to do a full report on it, build the significance of it. High quality imagery from Fox feeds available too for news channels to use.

I hope they can get 50k+ there. The image of 50k+ in the stadium cheering on the announcement would pretty much close out the argument from 7West that no one wants a team in Perth.

A nice bit of symmetry as well, with 2 teams that went to Super League, playing against 2 teams that stayed with the ARL. Bears fans marching with Souths fans in 2000 and you have the traditional rivals Manly there too.

Both the Bears and Reds having been stung by the SL War too.

As much as that sounds good, surely it is better to announce it in the lead up week to the double header with the name/logo reveal at the stadium, which would encourage more people to go?

Maybe media hype and speculation will have the same effect and more people will attend the double header in anticipation of the announcement in your scenario, who knows?

Either way, I will be so relieved if/when it actually happens as I have been following the drama of getting Perth a team since 2006...

Nah mate, that one you sent me today was the first I've seen of it. Yeesh!

For the record, I don't doubt those in the driving seat have the right intentions. I'm more referring to supporters from the west or the east who blindly are only interested in pushing their side to the detriment of the club as a whole.

What Reds branding? They had already announced the Bears name and lodged a bear head logo for IP purposes. Not to mention the Reds branding is owned by Puddy so they couldnt use it if they wanted to.

Tbf it was News Ltd

The nrl does nothing basically to support its expansion teams lol

There were many calls previously to relocate them

They would take Bellamy away from Melbourne and put him at a newer expansion side if they could
100%, all the chat in 2004 was that the Storm would be relocated to the Gold Coast and the CC Bears would be team 16
