So… 10 games in, and sadly, not looking anything like being anything other than a plodder I’m afraid.

Made some decent tackles against the Panthers, but other than that, anonymous - a waste of a jersey. 9 runs for 38 meters (6 post-contact) is pretty ordinary. No other positive states (line breaks/tackle busts etc) in offence.

In 10 games, we’ve had 1 line break, 2 tackle busts and 1 offload as his positive stats.

I love what he’s done for our club and the player and bloke that he’s been - but if we want to have a red hot crack at this comp, we can’t carry players on the back of sentiment. We need another attacking threat out wide to create doubt and space - Wade offers nothing unfortunately.

Losing Katoa kills any likelihood of that. Unless you bring Ivaluku in, get rid of Talakai from center, put him back on the edge, put god (CT) back at 4 and drop the captain to the bench . Aint gonna happen.

He’ll be in the team barring injury all this season.

I’m fine with that.

I agree with you that no team is afraid of him as an attacking threat.

What I won’t be fine with if he gets another season.

It’s time for Wade to ride away into the Sunset.

Out of interest, What makes you fine with it for this year?

we’re one of the very few that could potentially beat the Panthers on GF day - we’ve as much chance as any other team (other than the Panthers) to win the comp - Wade is a blocker to that

Chimp, I don't think we currently have a back rower who would be better in the 17 than Wade.

Which backrower from NSW Cup would you bring up to First Grade and trust at this stage of the season?

I think this is the reason we are talking to a couple of backrowers for next season.

I'm more concerned about Fifita getting caught out by the faster teams like Penrith.

As much as I love the Grand Final Hero I think Tolman is the better Prop option going forward for the rest of the year.

After Tolman I'd have Colquhoun in the 17 over Fifita for the stint he does on the field.

I'd love to give him half a dozen First Grade games to him this season.

His debut against the Cowboys was solid.

Teig was offering more than Wade has. I get the whole experience thing though i think it gets overstated somewhat. Veterans need to be doing enough on the field to retain their spots and not just get it because they have 200 odd games under their belt, I've seen it referred to with players like goodwin, chambers and tolman who have stunk the joint out with some of their performances. Penrith have got rid of someone like James Tamou who seems like a good mentoring player and they haven't missed a beat.

I’d have Teig in the starting side over Wade for sure. Don’t think Wade would see it this way however. But Teig is in the 17.

It's a tough one because you have to balance "team harmony" (i hate that saying but couldn't think of anything else to describe it).

Wade is never going to be 2016 wade ever again. I think everyone needs to realise that. I still think he is doing a very important job for us in defence. You can see that he is holding that left edge together.

And that’s why I’m happy to see him in the 17 this year over anyone currently in NSW Cup.

Trig's form was great until they put Wade into his spot, coming of the bench has not helped Teig.
When he was starting linebreaks tries, and good decoy for Talakai

I think this point is often overlooked by fans - they're human beings with their own group dynamics. The most important personalities aren't necessarily the most impactful players - it's not like Supercoach where you can just win by collecting the players with the best stats. For this reason as much as any, I'd be leaving Wade where he is.

Team harmony looked and sounded pretty sweet at the beginning of the season when Wade was out.....

Either Tieg straight into Wades starting spot, or CT to 4 and Talakai to backrow.

Also agree on Fifita - as much as I adore the big fella, his time is up.

I completely get all the arguments for why Wade (and Feefs) should be picked, but for me, their output simply does not justify selection, and we have other players in the squad who can offer more, even taking into account their experience/influence across the squad. That influence would still be there throughout training and on game day, just someone else is in the actual 17, making a difference on the field.
