How did McKinnon play any worse than Brett Delaney?

I love the kid's guts and goal-kicking, but fair dinkum - he dropped the ball when we were probably going to score!

If you were going to drop any of the backs it would still be Petersen.

His try was great, but he has one guaranteed match-losing moment in him per week this year. I don't want to be hard on the bloke but geez... if he couldn't get to the ball on the full yesterday, why not let it bounce and then field it, or perhaps even watch it run dead?

Wade can be brilliant and then can make some very silly errors. He is so erratic that he is reminding me of Scott Mahon.

I was thinking that Wade, this year, had appeared to get those errors out of his game, but the last couple of weeks they seemt o be creeping back in.

at the moment Peto's the only bloke who shouldn't be any where near first grade, I'd prefer anyone on that right wing but him.

  Agreed.

And John Morris should never have come off - he was looking good again at dummy-half.

John Morris was really good - he really seemed to nullify their dummy-half.

Moving him back to 5/8 may have been a mistake...

WAde also stuffed up in the Cowboys game

Took out Bowen that saw Riddell's 'try' disallowed then played the ball when there was no dummy half so that means he effectivly cost Parra 12 points in that game.

then in the Broncos game he went high on Tame Tupou resulting in an easy try to Brisbane

Some of Wade's errors yesterday were schoolboy stuff errors that a 1st grader should never make.

Joel Reddy has been in very good form in reggies (although he has spent time in the centres and 5/8 )

Petersen should also be in reggies but it's not like yesterday was the 1st time McKinnon has had a bad game.

Interestingly with the whole debate about Petersen there have been more tries scored down the Grothe/Tahu side then the Petersen/Delaney side.

about 14-5 coming into the Manly game

and in the Manly game 2 more tries were scored down the Grothe/Tahu side (Bell's and Hicks') while none were scored directly down the Petersen/Delaney side the Kite try was the closet that went down there and that was more in the centre of the field with Cayless, Vella and McKinnon unable to make the tackle.

In saying all that dropping McKinnon might be harsh but right now Reddy is in better form and deserves a shot

Reddy is also under contract for next year, Wade is not.

I don't think you can definitively say Reddy is in better form ... McKinnon has been doing things in the top grade that Reddy has not ... making massive metres and setting up breaks and plays. I agree Reddy has been solid - but reserve grade is a hell of a lot different to firsts and yesterday it was light years difference ... Reddy was not outstanding

Obviously he will only get so many chances if he keeps coming up with the huge errors... but in the end most of Wade's errors didn't lead directly to tries.

Dropping players who are off contract next year for those that are is going to leave us a bit thin in the ranks. ;-) If Wade goes and Jol stays then Joel gets plenty of time next year to cement the job. Only problem is then you'll want Hayne..... :p
