At least Witt stepped in and told him to just go off. That shows that Witt has really matured as a player.

All Mckinnon's theatrics aside it was an abysmal decision by Simpkins. To allow himself to get tied up in a personal conflict and then send a player off for a unrelated incident is inexcusable. Sure send him off for dissent if you think its approprite but to send him for an obvious square up because he just gave you a gobfull is immature and unprofessional. Simpkins needs a long long rest from top grade footy.

Cant remember when it was (think it was in a replay after a try or a near thing) that you could see Mckinnon smashing into Simpkins in our in-goal. I would say the hostilities started very early on.

The shot in the Warriors dressing room just before they ran out. It was Wadeo who was doing all the talking - Price didn't seem to be saying anything at all.
I don't think that means anything. How long was the camera in there for? a minute? it might have just been Wade's turn to talk

Both are cleared to play this week.

"Warriors Wade McKinnon cleared to play

Monday, July 23, 2007 - 2:14 PM
New Zealand Warriors fullback Wade McKinnon is free to play this weekend despite being sent off for allegedly kneeing an opponent in Sunday's NRL win over Wests Tigers.
The NRL match review committee charged four players for incidents over the weekend but McKinnon was not amongst them after being controversially dismissed by referee Paul Simpkins just before fulltime at Campbelltown Stadium.
McKinnon was marched following a tackle involving Tigers backrower Taniela Tuiaki, Simpkins indicating the Warriors custodian had deliberately come down on Tuiaki with his knee.
Replays indicated there was minimal use of the knee with the match review committee agreeing as they failed to lay a charge.
His Warriors teammate Jerome Ropati will escape suspension with an early guilty plea following a grade one lifting charge in another tackle involving Tuiaki.
Gold Coast's depth could be further tested this weekend with prop Ian Donnelly and hooker Nathan Friend both facing a week on the sidelines.
Donnelly was hit with a grade one contrary conduct charge for an alleged grapple tackle while Friend was charged with a grade three careless high tackle following Friday night's loss to the Bulldogs.
Manly prop Jack Afamasaga will be free to play Parramatta on Sunday if he takes the early plea following a contrary conduct charge for a grapple tackle in Friday night's win over Cronulla."

Thank goodness the match review committee used a bit of common sense. I could see the whole thing getting blown out of all proportion.

I've always hated Simpkins and anyone can see from his origin,GF etc officiating that the way he manipulates games to suit his mood/money is blatant.

The thing that sucks is nothing will be done and Simpkins will go on reffing the way he does.
Regardless of the way Mckinnon was behaving, the way Simpkins acted and handled the matter was extremely unprofessional.

Good it see it's over...and hopefully lessons will be learnt from all sides. Love McKinnon as a Warriors fan to watch, but does need to pull his head in a bit. As does the ref, and hopefully his superiors will quietly mention that to him also

I thought it was funnier when Witt yelled at McKinnon to shut up after the Tigers last try
