The Barry Toohey column in the Sunday paper says Walsh has had informal approaches to go to Penrith for the rest of the season.
I wonder if Jesse would come back for his money?

Makes sense. Penrith definately need a halfback. But at the moment I can't see why we would let him go. Doesn't help us at all for this season.

We need to keep Walsh, f**k penrith, they should have organised a half back way before Round One 2009.

salary cap we can use to buy another prop - if we can find one.

Firstly, who would there be that's NRL quality that isn't in the NRL.

Secondly, if you're talking a Jesse Royal quality prop then I'd rather keep Walsh.

Walsh would go terrible at prop.

Walsh was named by Smith as one of 3 shadow players for the Titans game?

Read into that what you like, but I don't think it comes across to me as 4th or 5th choice halfback?

If Walsh is granted a release, it would be a business decision first and foremost.

walsh is costing money for nothing. If he is given a contract at penrith it will for a lot less than he is getting now

The other question is - should we do the right by Walsh.
It is good for morale of our other players if they let Walsh get on with his career, rather than killing a year doing nothing.

Luke Walsh signs with Penrith Panthers

By Barry Toohey
March 16, 2009 01:37pm

PENRITH has moved to solve it problems at the scrumbase by signing Newcastle halfback Luke Walsh for the rest of the season.

The Panthers will announce Walsh’s signing this afternoon after he was officially released from the final year of his contract by the Knights this morning.

Seen as the heir apparent to Andrew Johns at Newcastle in 2007 when he signed a two year deal worth $300,000, Walsh 21 fell out of favour with coach Brian Smith last year and failed to play any NRL games.

But he has come highly recommended to the Panthers, who have struggled in the halfback department ever since Craig Cower and Peter Wallace departed the club.

dureau is now our only hope.

And god help us all...

I'm starting to wonder if I was a bit too lenient in my prediction of finishing in 10th position.

Suddenly 12th to 16th is a very real possibility, as is a 0-3 start heading into the first home game vs Manly.

Hope I'm wrong...
