The Mole on Twitter this morning is suggesting Daniel Anderson is a dark horse for the coaching job.

Given he has the support of someone like Quayle, he must be doing the job well behind the scenes. Also given the state of plenty of boards, his work over the past three years hasn't been too bad.

Also on Anderson, I think he's just been shortlisted. Hopefully it's still between Stoney and Brennan.

What are your thoughts on Sheens guys? My point being that I am nervous about our prospects of retaining the kids like Sione, Chanel and Mamo long term with player agents using the rookie coach argument to drive them elsewhere. Add Bennett's infamous player influence and it means anything is possible. When you read that Josh Hoffman and Barba are fair chances of being sacked by bennett it does make me wonder. It has happened before. You need an old head who can counter why money is not the only consideration. We are talking impressionable teenage players here. Short term Sheens could be the answer to keeping them and with his standing in the game we would certainly have a better argument.

Could do a lot worse than Tim Sheens. Particularly if he retains the Aust head coaching role. We need an experienced hand at the moment. In a storm are you going to hand the tiller to a deckhand ? or an experienced Captain? I think we all know the answer to that.

If we were to go with say Brennan or Stone I would say at least employ Sheens or the like to a head of coaching role.

I know who I'd rather have...

Either way, Stone coached in the QLD Cup for 13 years (winning 3 premierships) and has been an assistant to Hagan, Smith and Bennett. Not to mention he has experience as a head coach for both Fiji and the Knights. It's bit of an insult to liken him to a deckhand that needs someone like Sheens looking over his shoulder or holding his hand.

On a related note, wouldn't it be great if Stone was somehow able to pick up the best traits of the above 3 coaches he has been an assistant to: Hagan's "local knowledge", Smith's tactical nous and Bennett's player management.

Alternatively, he could end up Smith's "local knowledge", Bennett's game plans and Hagan's player management.

The most experienced hand of all is the one who steered us into this storm...

That has cut me right me up. Piss funny. Yet also likely.

Stone is well credentialed, but to be honest, I don't ever feel like he is going to make us perform better than 7th. He isn't capable of producing the tough stuff out of the boys. The hunger to defend your goal line and such.

Daniel Anderson wouldn't be that bad would he??? Has a pretty good record as a coach. Not such a good record with keeping the playing group happy after a few years though.

How is Brett Kimmorly in with a shot?

Has he coached/assistant coached anybody?
He was an assistant coach at the Raiders for a year or two. I think he's just doing media stuff now but I could be wrong.

Also he's from Newcastle so that could be in his favour. I doubt he'll get the job though.

I will not support this team if Brett Kimmorley is head coach. Surely that can not happen - ever.
