We need Parramatta Stadium capacity increased to 35k

why not increase it just in case? 4 times last year... and in the years gone past many have been keep out because of the small cappacity.

In 2005 i reckon 5 or 6 times we could've had more then 25+ crowds - the fear of a sell-out drove people away including me.

No one will turn up in fear of getting turned away.

Just in case???

Sorry Ron..... while there is a case for an increase they aren't going to do so 'just in case'.

2005 was a good season. The next years or so reasonably lean. The crowd average fluctuates but we haven't averaged over 15k for many years. We may start that way this year but a few losses and watch out.

If we can attract season ticket holders to hold 75% of the ground capacity then we should be looking at upgrading beyond 25,000. Until then it is very much just a wish.

The 'just in case', so ron jeremy can make his mind up morning of the match is a compelling argument for funding tbh.

Well we tripled Pirtek's sponsorship... not a bad start

Do you have a source to say that it was tripled, Mick?
I'm not being a smartarse here, I was just led to believe that it was nothing like three times. An increase yes, but not three times.
Does anyone know what the previous contract was worth and what the new contract is worth now?... Repeating the figure in the telecrap won't cut it either. We can't pick and choose when and where we take telecrap figures as gospel.

Once again, Im not being a smartarse here, I just want to know if we are just guessing figures and plucking them out of thin air. I understand that our bargaining power has increased significantly in the final 12 weeks of last season but I find it difficult to believe we have increased by 300%!!

We are also potentially locked into whatever figure is correct for 6 years. 3 years current and 3 with the option in Pirtek's favour. Potentially great if our on field performances turn to sh*t in the near future. Potentially costly if we continue to perform well. Life is a juggling act.

born, I think you miss my point. Show me a government that kept every promise
i think you've got the solution, the trust should make announcement of the plan to open a new stadium by 2017 and create an add letting everyone know how much they a doing.

Closer to the expected date when nothing significant has been done, they can announce that they now have a plan for an more modern covered arena but push the date back a few years.

When 2017 come around and nothing has been done they can then anounce that they are going back to the original scheme but this time it is fully costed to start in 2020.

and at sometime in the future we may get a north-west rail line as well

Just what's been in the SMH. Obviously its just a guess, but it's all we have atm.

Cheers, Mick. If you ever find out let us know, will you?
Ossie and the board have done some good things since they got in. I'm a little sceptical that they could get Pirtek to triple their commitment though. I certainly hope I am wrong.

I remember reading something when the deal was first signed in 2005 that suggested it was around $500,000 but the archives back to then on the new site don't exist.

When you consider the amount of Friday night and FTA games we receive and the possibility that other companies were possibly involved in the bidding process it is possible to assume a decent upgrade was agreed upon if they are happy with the coverage they have received.

It is all based on assumptions however but given the exposure the team currently receives not beyond the realm of possibility. Hayne alone is featured regularly in magazines, ads and all manner of things at the present moment.

If this new team does go in in 2011 then parra stadium will have more power to get an upgrade

http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport/western-sydney-to-join-aleague-in-2011-20090929-gao5.html

dunno about 35 K and how much it would cost but they could make it 30 K and parra stadium would then be a venue for the WC as a base for teams to train ...

It's not a sure thing they'll be playing at Parramatta.

They are talking to 5 stadiums, one of which is Parramatta.

ANZ
Parramatta
Penrith
Campbelltown
Sydney Showground

They'd be silly to go to either ANZ, the Showground or Cambelltown. Leaves only Parra and Penrith as viable alternatives.
I suppose they'll go to the stadium that provides the best deal. Alternatively, they might strike up a deal with 2 or more stadiums to share their home games.

at this rate ANZ will need to be synthetic grass, how many games a week can this place handle.

With the grow lights, you can have 3 games a weekend if you wanted to once you get the turf sorted and bedded down.

The problem you have with the turf from last weekend was due to 3 concerts in 6 days 5 days out from the game.
