we were right in the game until the bomb kicking and "defusing" became the thing that turned it.
Bomb kicking probably does bring some excitement to the game but overall I think the game needs to look at rule changes that make bombs less potent and teams less reliant on them.
The mindset of "they got to the kick" should be replaced with "they were forced to punt".

The difference last night was not just Cleary's kicks, it was where he got to kick from.

Most of Cleary's bombs were from in our own half. We actually did put pressure on him a few times. In fact, the first one Blake dropped we did rush Cleary, but Blake did not even look like positioning himself correctly.

On the other hand, whilst Moses' kicking not only kept us in the game, but put pressure on Penrith, most of his kicks were from well within our own half. Of the attacking kicks he did put up, none were of the spiral type. Can he do spiral kicks ?

I think we missed our chance to get on the front foot whilst May was in the sin bin. In fact they scored against the run of play due to the dropped bomb.
This!

Absolutely no kick pressure. Cleary had all the time in the world to kick the ball and maybe get a haircut as well. Absolutely nobody made the effort to close him down. Even when Waqa dropped the first one, you would of thought ok let’s put pressure on him but we got nothing.

No I don’t actually. Been doing it for the last 3-4 years. Going strong
the better question should be why this continues to be a pertinent issue - the fact we keep having the same problem year on year on year should be fans concern, but their concern seems to be how to defend the coach and his inept son.

Completed at less than 68% since half time actually. We're conceding points because of fatigue, not because Jake Arthur is on the field.
you are spot on as usual - jake must have been exhausted when Cleary strolled past him and he kicked out on the full.

Probably needed a nap but Dad made him stay up and play.

The kid isn't ready and anyone who says otherwise is either trolling or just obstinately defending the indefensible to try to "win an internet argument.

Penrith we’re the better side last night and deserved the win, (even though that’s hard to say when you have smug merkins like Chrichton Luai et.al. In that side)
However, one tactic that is Storm like and of course that cock Luai is the main exponent of, is dragging the player backwards in the tackle after the ball has touched the ground. Its essentially working the player over on the ground. The NRL needs to stamp it out. Its an illegal play that went unpunished at least 10 times last night IIRC.

mate, they are just not real fans 🤣

Those premature ejaculators got really frisky when we beat the cellar dweller Bulldogs, Broncos. They thought they won the GF. They don’t look at the fact which is BA in big game is a failure. But they are so blind to it because of the premature ejaculation condition that they have.

get ready for their 101 excuses. Should be fun. If they come out of their caves.

Lot of vulgar verals at the game last night, unfortunately they were Parra fans. Dont think there is that much dumb ass at Commbank, but plenty on an opposition ground. Ming boggling

The abuse JA got from some so called fans was beyond civilisation. We all get the kid aint up to it, and warrants discussion that he isnt NRL standard yet (may never will be, or may end up being very good), BUT the utter garbage thrown at the kid is quite pathetic

For next week id bring in Russell for Waqa. The guy has lost confidence and will be targeted
Ruff put a few bombs up to Sivo's end initially. He caught them well. They tried Waqas end and were successful at first attempt, and were relentless at him from then on.

NBrown in for Makatoa. Just tell NB to go hell for leather in a 15min stint thats all. He wont do any worse, but may ignite some of his aggression , knowing it a small stint. Cartright has to coem in for JA. Its getting well beyond useless putting the kid on the bench for no value. His season is done for mine

66% completion rate for the game tells the sad story for us
Also we tried to go through the middle far too many times, and just got belted each time. What worked for us last few weeks, as second phase play, and shifting the ball wider , was non existant. Lets not blame Penriths defence, Storm have similar type line speed and agggression in the ruck.

I dont feel like attending next weeks game. Just sad and depressed yet again (can we do a Parra mental health thread?) on the Eels. Some big names went missing, the usual dumb shit returned. Penrith were clinical but were also there to be had if we held our nerve and went toe to toe, we were the first ones to crack, not once but a few times in the second half. Goodbye Jack dont come back.

Our whole season can be shaped up positively in the next game or two with wins. Or it can limp out as per usual next week.

To be fair, I don’t think anyone underestimated their line speed. It is phenomenal. That’s not (or shouldn’t be) why he isn’t posting. I like @hindy111 and truly hope he joins us again. He just has some running battles with some posters, but we all love the eels and hopefully 4 weeks from now we’re getting kicked out of the leagues club because we’re all too inebriated after a weeks celebration of a Premiership.

those posters have been having running battles with anyone that mentions another coach, Ba or ja or any criticism of the club. It should be those posters taking a break not @hindy111. Maybe they need to be knocked off their high horse. Posting like they have the answers all the time.

Agree they were the better team. Yeah I noticed the dragging. It was a killer, But credit to their coaching staff. They try things, mix things up. They innovate.

what has our bald headed choker coach brought to our team in 9 years? Any new ideas? Trick plays? Set moves that doesn’t involve a crash plays?

That’s such a shame that you were embarrassed by our own fans. I too agree that young Arthur shouldn’t be in first grade, but I blame his father as coach for poor selection decisions and perhaps nepotism.
Fans giving it to a 19 year old kid does not sit well with me personally either. Like I said, he shouldn’t be in first grade, but thats on his father.

I personally think that Arthur has done a fair job over his 9 years, particularly with some of the forward packs he has had in the earlier days.
However, it’s time for a change. I said that last year after the mid year slump and nothing has changed my opinion.
I really hope he and the team can still make the fairy tale come true and we win the GF. Even so I still think it’s time for change.

The Dogs?! Wow you’ve gotta be pretty good to play well against them.

haha has ja been good in any game yet? Yet he keeps getting picked. My point was Bryce done his job. Defended well and brought something to the team. Energy. But I’m sure you’re smart enough to know players only need to step up against the strong teams, right?

He’s a good guy. He’s a Parra man. But It dawned on me a few years ago that he will never win us a comp. Back then I gave him all the excuses in the world. But he keeps on shovelling up the choker shit in the big games. He just can’t do it. Whilst other coaches innovate he freezes up. Team selections, lack of use of bench, nepotism. You know when he picks his son over Nathan brown and Carty, something is up with this guy. he’s been here far too long.

he’s known for his brain farts. Last night team selection for classic Ba in his prime. Everyone knew it was going to be a massive forward battle except him. Not sure why he saves his worst for September footy. If we lose next week he needs to be shown the door asap.
