You know it's not true. By the same age Hayne had played 41 games and won Dally M Rookie, Dally M Winger and won the Brad Fittler Medal for best NSW player in Origin ffs.

But Jake Arthur has won more games as a starter (4 from 11) than Thurston had (2 from 5) by the same age. This obviously doesn't prove Arthur will be a better player, but does prove that talented youngsters need NRL time to develop, even if their team is likely going to lose when they play. That's the problem with backup halves. The fact they have to play means that an important starter is unavailable. I bet merkins whinged that Thurston should be nowhere near first grade either. The Bulldogs won 75% of their games in '02-'03 but only 40% when Thurston started. Were the losses his fault or just expected when whichever half he replaced was unavailable?
Jakey>>>> Thurston.

Again, if we are a big club, why are we targeting maybes. The last rep-player we signed was Fergo and we supposedly have moved higher up the ladder of favourable destinations.

With the highest attendances, highest memberships, decent sponsorships, class homeground, upgraded training facilities and then we target retreads, doesn’t speak to the admin being on top does it.
Maybe it just means we are having to spend a lot of money on retentions. It's a shame we are losing these players but you can't keep them on unders forever. Even the Roosters lost Latrell Mitchell, and they've won f**k all since. But they absolutely will be back because losing a player doesn't mean they've lost resources. They just redirected the money to poach the best youngsters like Walker and Suaalii, who are now on unders like Mitchell used to be.

I dont think we are at the same level as the Roosters or Melbourne or probably still Souths .... they have connections and make things happen that we cant.

I think its an unfortunate fact of NRL life that we cant compare ourselves to a club like the Roosters. They play by a different set of rules.
Look at the sorts of players who make their NRL debuts at the Storm and Chooks. None of them are kids from Bondi or Melbourne. They pick the eyes out of the best juniors. The size of their catchment area is irrelevant.

You have to ask the question why though. You can get an actual machine these days to put the balls in the air the way you want them to be, so we could catch 500 bombs a week if we wanted. There is no excuse for not being completely prepared.
You can do all your homework and still be overwhelmed by the occasion. Blake's not the first player to shit himself in a big game. The Storm lost a grand final 40-0. How many players had to have a shocker for that to happen?

It depends on a lot more than that... field position for one, opposition support play for another.
Right, so no the fault of a single player? Everyone misses tackles. They don't get to choose whether it leads to a line break or even a try.
But since you're responses to others' posts are at the Gump-level, I don't expect you've room for anything other than selective replies or the most simple of mantras.
Aphorisms?

No team should be expected to beat the Panthers in the finals, especially in Penrith. They are better than everyone. If they have an off day they might get beaten but that's out of the opposition's hands. It's no failure to lose to them. The only failure is if Penrith lose.

Great speech to tell the players before the game.

It had us in front ffs. One winger having a shocker is what killed us. In that sense Penrith's five tackles and bomb tactic won them the game. But they needed some luck. Blake was making unforced errors.

We where running out of gas. We had plenty of ball in attacki g positions. Never looked like scoring and never was able to get players one in one.
Penrith when close always looked dangerous and found space.
I don't think we took our chances. Played to conservative when in attacking positions and some shit house kicks and worse kicks chases when attacking

Missing a tackle is the fault of the player who missed the tackle. To only way to make sure a missed tackle doesn't result in a try is for the player not to miss the tackle.
But every player misses tackles. Some lead to tries. The player who missed the tackle doesn’t get to choose what happens after it. That’s up to the other 33 players.

What flavour of shit are you trying to peddle this time?

If a player misses a tackle, they missed their tackle - their part of/role in the team's overall defensive duties - and obviously would be accountable for continuous improvements in their role.

You're a case in point. The amount of defending you do of BA is off the charts some nights in the wee hours. I guess you always have it in the back of your mind that you'll get some respite in the AM given the east coast/west coast time difference... Good on you!!
Well I've got a family so I don't get much time to catch up on these massive whiny threads until the kids have gone to bed and I spend some time with the missus. Respite has nothing to do with it; I have the same amount of shit to read on delay as I would have in real time.
