agree, i would re-sign the bloke in a half beat aslong as it's cheap, he has improved with every single game, and would be great depth next year....well the way he's playing not even depth - he could well be starting if KK isn't performing at a high level!!

as usual, right again!

well almost .... the saying is actually "I'd ... in a heart beat" - but we'll let that slide ;-)

Poor Robson, our 3rd choice halfback last year, takes us to the GF, gets punted from that role at thte start of this year and we suck, get brought back in half way through the year and we have some direction on the field again. He's no world beater but he seems to be the nut that holds everything together and gives the ball to the right people at the right time. Stick with him for the rest of the year there, worked last year.

i'd call him - the nut that doesn't get in the bolts' way

morts, while improving, telegraphs his passes and rarely plays it as it happens (ie it all seems premeditated)

kk is just a livewire that rarely creates for others

Last nights game pretty much just reaffirmed that Robson is the ONLY real halfback we have in our top 25.

Hopefuly the Mortimer halfback experiment is over with..

Yeah Robson was better when he was calling the shots, except for when he kicked it into the Cowboys player but not really all his fault.

He had a good kicking game, set up the tries for Hayne and one for himself. I hope he plays like he did against the Bulldogs last year. Really took the line on and threw some good passes.

Terrific effort from Robson: played with a biceps injury; scored a try; gave the last pass for a Hayne try; put up a bomb for a Hayne try and put in a grubber kick for another try. Also certainly saved at least one try with his defence. Funny thing: Robson goes back to half-back and Hayne has a blinder. Coincidence? By the way, did anyone see Daniel Mortimer do anything?
I`d like to see : 6. Tom Humble; 7. Jeff Robson. With Mortimer as far away from first grade as it`s possible to get. This guy is NEVER going to make it.

a lot of you guys seem to still be underrating Jeff Robson

forget the 6 on his back (and apparently again next week) he played 7 and did it well
some people were just happy to only really talk up his defence
some people were just happy to say well'at least he defends solidly, but we need falir in attack
some people still just want someone else

well not me - i have always admired him since he has been with this club and in first grade, but i have been guilty of always wanting someone else to play in place of him, namely KK, then Morts......but as some have admitted in the thread - he is our only genuine halfback at the club right now and he stood up big time against the cowboys AND with an injury - he was outstanding and was only overshadowed by the Train

no conicidence either that Jarryd played well with Robson calling the shots.....which he did, he did it with solid kicking, good early ball to the 5/8 ie. Morts, great hands to Hayne, clever kicks which resulted in 2 tries, great attacking the defensive line which brought a try to himself and opened our account....and let's not forget his defence

i have been guilty of wanting KK, Morts and even Humble at 7, well no more.......

for me, its 7. Jeff Robson

well done champ!!

p.s. Mortimer looked like the weight of the world was off his shoulders just one pass wider at 5/8 and should come out of this form slump....

I never want to say bad things about this bloke cause he gives it his all every week which cannot be said for many other Eels players

He had a very good game and he should keep the 7 for the rest of the season.

However, I still think that his kicking game is not spot on.

I also thought his bomb/chip for Hayne's try was a mis-kick.

But like Bissy have said, he tries hard and defends like there's no tomorrow.

Robson got my 3 points. The media wet themselves over Hayne's flashy touches, but fail to credit the work of Robson that created those spaces and that attacking confidence once again.

Mortimer just hasn't performed as #7, and the side has suffered. Robson was at the helm during the run home, and should be in the #7 jersey for the rest of the season. Watch and learn Daniel...

i agree out of the 3 potential halfbacks he is the only one showing some signs of improvement while mortimer has gone backwards at a rate of knots

Whilst I'm not as big a critic of Morts as you I'd have Humble ahead of him in the 6 jersey at this stage.

Apparently Humble is injured though?

Hey Ron.. this comment is not kind towards Robson "as long as it's cheap".

As far as I am concerned Robson is and has been since the 2009 season one of the most valuable Eels players. He is worth $200k now. If Hindmarsh is on or was on around $400k then Robson is worth at least half this value. The amount of tries he saves during critical moments, one-on-one, goes into the thirty + zone since the beginning of the 2009 Season.

It's about time the Eels club showed some true respect to the real working blue class performers in this squad who consistently perform in the + zone than in the - zone.

Robson at 7 will get the eels into the 2010 GF. He is the organiser - THE GENERAL, and it was great to see Hayne recognise who was boss for 80 minutes last night... and it paid huge dividends for the team particularly Hayne...

i agree we have a few players like that; burt, reddy, robson etc they arent on the big dollars or media darlings but they put in week in week out (usually) and give the stars a chance to shine

I really rate robbo. If he had a dominant 5/8 outside him (like barrett) who did the majority of organisation and kicking we would be on to a winner.
BUT ... Morts contract seems to state that he be selected in the halves and will probably be next year.
he is much maligned but he is a champion of the hard working , not so talented, players.
Good onya robbo !

AND another thing - do we have to continually go over this ...
Ando has said that Morts will stay in the No 7. End of Story.
It wont change.

Never hold a coach to his words. Things change. The best coaches admit when theyre wrong. (unlike the nsw selectors). Morts will be back in the 6 for 2011

That's it Barty, that is one of the major keys to the Eels open attacking & 2nd phase play game. Once that space opens up the brilliance of our class players exploding into that space, to fill it up with Fui Fui surges and passes at or through the line, Hayne weaving and blasting through with the odd kick over or through the defence to regather and score, Cayless and Hindmarsh passing at or through the line, etc etc... even creates the room for Mortimer to excel once again at 6 and will provide the room for the confidence to grow with players like INU and Tahu, etc, etc,... The best is yet to come.... Good on you Robbo...

I dont know ... Ando is a stubborn bugger !!!
It all depends who we sign.
If we sign BK or Orford - Morts plays 6
if we sign Barrett - Morts plays 7

Dont be surprised however if Ando plays Morts at 7 and Kimmorley/Orford at 6 ! ... just to prove a point !!
