To me it looks to go slightly forward as it comes up off the turf, can understand why it wasn't called though because it's very slight.Boyd "knock-on":
At what point does he promote it forward?

My main beef with the refs was the Cows seemed to get away with slowing down the ruck a lot more than we did
LOL are you kidding? He doesn't catch the ball cleanly. It hits his hand then the ground without any control. Knock on clear as day.

That was my working theory of the situation. Difficult to tell without another angle but things were happening so quickly, I don't blame the referees.
A player getting his arm free doesn't negate the legality of a multi-person strip.
Also a better performance doesn't make you bullet proof. Although I'm sure in some referees eyes, it does.
Then the referees have never or will never be consistent with that interpretation and more often than not have ruled with the side who had the ball dislodged.
Thaiday having an 'ordinary game' is a logical fallacy in this context.
I can't think of any examples off hand where a player trying to offload has been given a penalty in that instance. Poor attempt at offload and poor attempt on Tamou on the Cowboys try had a larger impact on the game compared to any refereeing influence real or otherwise. Thaiday pretty much admitted both as errors on his part.
Did he knock the ball towards the opponents dead ball line?
Yes or no.

That's not how a knock on works lol
Never once went that direction.to knock the ball towards the opponents' dead ball line with hand or arm, while playing at the ball
I swear some people have never glimpsed at a rule book.
