Primary colour Gold (from Gold, duh), secondary Black (from the Swans)

The ill fated ARU national comp had a WA team in Black and Gold, other than that no clubs in WA use it!

Black and gold is an awesome colour scheme which I’d love to see in the NRL but surely if the team is named the Reds the main colour should be red?

yeh bit of a problem with using the state colours! Hence why I think Primary Red with yellow (or gold) and black trim would be a good choice.

They could then do some jazzy away shirts every couple of years with gold as primary colour

I just keep thinking “two teams with red & white as their colours and both using a V”…
No matter how well they justify it I cannot see it entering the NRL. Especially when the ‘other’ team is one of the most popular clubs in the league.


Red and yellow/black like you’ve suggested really looks good and it’d be easy to identify in the WA sports market.

Dockers = Purple/etc
Force = Blue
Glory = Purple

yeh that's why I think predominantly red with a bit of black and Gold would work better than a more traditional RL V design with more colour. I do like that 2nd shirt though.

Love the comment regarding the last year of the Reds initial run which was the height of the Super League War...

Are they scared much?

Mung.oes and their pipe dreams :lol: The fact is they only averaged about 6.5K per game at the WACA in their last year there and they had no other rugby code sides to compete with so hopefully the NRL or whatever they change their name to will choose Perth again so that we can give Rugby Lite a final coup de grâce in WA.

Interestingly I have seen quite a few fans in Force jerseys at the Perth NRL games. On the whole there isn;t the same dislike of other codes in WA you get in Vc or NSW.

Regarding the colours, my personal opinion would be more of a yellow colour than the gold like the double V stripes of the Kangaroos... The black can be in the shorts...

Mostly talk on these forums really. You'll find that there is massive crossover between League and Union fans in both states and you see plenty of League jerseys at Reds games and vice versa up here in Brissy. Has been at most Waratahs games I have ventured to as well.

Whereas old gold is tinged with brown (and has a regal/historic feel), the kangaroos gold is closer to yellow/aureolin in shade.

San Fransisco 49'ers use red, old gold and white trims and have one of the most distinct kits in the NFL. Perth Reds could be just as unique (in Rugby League).
