Another jersey idea featuring a simpler club badge than the current somewhat cluttered one. Whilst bright red, bright yellow and black works for the Reds brand Id go for old gold, scarlet red and black if Pirates brand is chosen.

If warriors go back to Auckland colours then only one club would be using predominantly black.
colours depend on branding chosen. Bright colours works well for Reds, the black, gold and red works better for pirates brand, only problem I can see is perth is bloody hot so not sure black would be a comfortable colour to wear for everyone.
Could reverse the colours to make red the prominent one and black a minor one but with dolphins going that way not sure it’d work.
I’m struggling to think of a colour that’s not currently being used in nrl?

The use of red is perfect, it is an ode to the past reds, and not many teams use it, other than st.merge away and newy sometimes, and now the dolphins, so not a big issue, but black is tigers home, penrith home, cronulla away, then there's storm in navy, cows in navy, rosters in navy, raiders trying to envoke navy, even parra starting to get darker too in their use of blue..

There's colours that are *under* used - especially as main colours (red, green, yellow, and especially ORANGE) - so if they're used in a way that steers clear of other club brands, they're open for new teams.

For instance dark green. The Warriors use it as trim, but haven't produced a true dark green alternate jersey. Meanwhile Souths have a dark green in their club colours, but mixed with red in their traditional jerseys it looks good close-up, but blends to some kinda murky shade at a distance.

A green, silver & black team (for instance) steers clear of the Warriors & Rabbitohs brands.

While I'm mentioning silver, there's a colour that has been hugely overlooked in the NRL.

The Sharks (and I think Tigers & Knights) have dabbled with silver as an away jersey in the past - and dropped it pretty quickly.. and no team uses it as main colour for a home jersey.

I don't think it'll ever be the home jersey, but the door is wide open for silver to be part of a club's colour scheme, and the main part of their away jersey.

True, but they've used it pretty sparingly, often going for white as the predominant colour on their away jersey, and silver as secondary/trim.

As a MAIN colour (especially on home jerseys), silver is still open to claim by an expansion team.

Problem with silver is it usually looks a boring grey on a RL jersey.
Agreed - that's where a strong trim/second colour comes in.

For instance.. the original Gold Coast Giants jersey is dull & uninspiring (grey, black & white?!? Looks like a 3rd rate Oakland Raiders knockoff), but the blue white & grey of the Sharks away jersey I posted showed some promise - even though the design was pretty disjointed.

All those middling colors like gold, silver, orange, yellow, look best when used minimally against a predominantly darker color. Or, if you're gonna use them primarily, then they "should" be a darker version of them....like a dark/burned orange top with say black shorts, or a very dark gray almost charcoal top with say navy shorts. Etc.

True silver is too light (close to white) to use as a main, and why a dull gray ends up being what they go for, when used in large portions.
